Berra Misses Out on Award
Friday, 4th Apr 2014 10:05

Town centre-half Christophe Berra has missed out on the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month award for March with QPR’s Ravel Morrison picking up the gong.

Berra was nominated alongside Morrison, Watford’s Troy Deeney and Simon Francis of Bournemouth.

Earlier in the season, Town striker David McGoldrick won September’s Championship Player of the Month award.

I'm sure Morrison thinks he's 100% deserving of it.

Bad luck Christophe.

Never mind. He'll get my vote for player of the season and that is far more important!

Unlucky Christophe, but may not be a bad thing for us that more attention won't be coming his way. Berra will be a hugely important player for us next season, whatever league we are in. The fact that he only has 1 year left on his contract is worrying though - a new 3 year offer, with an extension option, should be placed in front of him asap.

Not sure defenders tend to win these things? Unlucky for him but we know how great his contribution has been, and not just this month but throughout the entire season.

It's more difficult for defenders to get noticed unless they score goals, which isn't really their primary role in the team.

I've been impressed by Berra ever since I first saw him in the cup at Stevenage. Incredible that we picked him up on a free transfer with little competition!
