Yeovil Pair Linked Wednesday, 30th Apr 2014 10:37 Town are reported to be showing interest in out-of-contract Yeovil pair Byron Webster and Luke Ayling.
The Glovers, whose relegation back to League One was confirmed last week, are keen to keep hold of the central defender and right-back and manager Gary Johnson has already held talks with the duo and his other out of contract players, but is not yet sure of his budget for 2014/15.
According to the Western Gazette the Blues and Leeds are eyeing 27-year-old Webster, while newly-promoted Brentford and Town have kept tabs on 22-year-old Ayling.
Yorkshireman Webster (pictured above) was with Leeds as a youngster before moving on to York, where he broke into the first team during 2004/05 when the Minstermen were in the Conference.
The 6ft 3in tall defender subsequently spent time playing with Harrogate, Whitby, Czech side FK SIAD Most, Doncaster, Hereford and Northampton before joining Yeovil, where he is currently vice-captain, in 2012. He has now made 94 starts and three sub appearances for the Somerset club, scoring nine goals.

Londoner Ayling was an academy player with Arsenal and joined the Glovers on loan in March 2010 before signing a permanent deal during the following close season. He has made 172 starts and 12 sub appearances for the Glovers, scoring three goals.
As well as being able to operate across the defence, Ayling, who would be subject to a compensation payment should he move on this summer, can play in midfield.

Our priority in the summer has got to be to sign attack minded, creative midfielders to address the defensive, workman like nature of our midfield. Williams has proved what an attack minded creative player is capable of. We also need to look at getting in some pacey wide players who can cross a ball. I would also cut my losses with nouble, I know he is still young, but he is a striker and strikers are judged by goals and he hasn't scored near enough, is poor in the air for a tall guy and has no football brain. Yes he runs around a lot, but so does Mo Farrah!!! He proved against doncaster that he cant score to save his life. Would like to see veseli and more hewitt challenge for the right back slot. Richardson as a last resort.

Stech, Aying, Webster and Edwards would be my pick picks from Yeovil. Shinnie and Burke form Brum, Jennings and Lawrence from Barnsley - not a bad bunch from relegated teams, eh? DJ Campbell back from Millwall would be a great deal too.

Ayling would bea great addition. Don't think we need another CB though. Keeper and pace in midfield would be my priorities.

Not too sure about raiding relegated teams. Theres a reason they went down, their players arent good enough. Take this season for example, we took 3 players from Bristol City and only 1 has been worth it in Cole Skuse. Gerken has been average and cost us goals through spilling shots and mad moments. I know some people will stick up for him but Mick wouldnt be after another keeper if he'd been that good. As for Anderson he's been awful apart from the 2nd half at home to Reading and Huddersfield away. Id much rather bring players in from decent teams with winning mentalities.

Surco72 Zigic is supposed to be on the best part of £40,000 a week. Wherever he goes it wont be here!

Yep start with the midfield - priority without a doubt! so who can we get on a free transfer who plays as a winger or creative midfield and has been relegated? as mentioned Dale Jennings a possibility.

Goalkeeper? Right Back? Midfielder? Were not Yeovil relegated to division 1 recently? Just shows the pitiful state of this once great club

I'm sorry wayway you're right we should be looking to swoop on Barcelona's keeper and right back, and while we're at it I hear they have the perfect attacking midfielder to solve our problems, get real! I think Gerken's had a good season so with limited funds I think our priorities should be: - 1. Attacking Midfielder with creativity 2. Right Back with a cross in him 3. Left winger with pace 4. Replacement for Cressy if he goes 5. Right winger with pace 6. Back up goalkeeper if Loach goes. - We will only get all of them if we get £5m for Cressy. Otherwise we have to start knocking them off the bottom of the list, Crowe as back-up, stick with Anderson et al on right wing etc..

I saw Brighton v Yeovil on Friday (free ticket) and Joe Ralls really stood out for me. Unfortunately, he's a Cardiff player - I expect they'll need him for the Championship next season.

Ayling sounds good id wonder what him and Hewitt might look like down the right hand side - starting with Hewitt in midfield but swapping over.

What's the point in targeting a play off spot? I thought the idea was to win the league, why aim low we should be able to compete on that basis

I think getting a creative midfield player with a bit of pace is out priority. But I think gerken is actually done very good for us this season

Whats the good of us signing a creative midfield player when we have Boring Billy as manager. He will probably sign a couple of Galloways coaches

For a creative midfielder look no further than Kevin Dawson at yeovil.
