Derry: No Progress on Bialkowski Switch
Thursday, 10th Jul 2014 09:47

Notts County manager Shaun Derry says “nothing’s progressed” on Town’s move for his keeper Bartosz Bialkowski. The Blues and Magpies are understood to be continuing to talk regarding the 27-year-old Pole's proposed switch.

Speaking on Magpie Player after his side beat Arnold Town 4-0 in their first pre-season friendly last night Derry said: “Nothing’s progressed at this moment in time.

“Obviously we’re fully aware of Ipswich’s interest but as it stands at the minute Bart’s absolutely fine with the situation and we’re looking at him as still our number one for the start of the season.

He added: “Of course [you want to hold on to your players] but you have to look at the bigger picture sometimes.

“For me, it’s just imperative that we just get through these next few games. There’s so much that happens in the final week or two weeks before the season starts, so I suppose at this minute everything is just pure speculation.”

give notts county an ultimatum and deadline for a deal to be completed.we need to get the new keeper working with the defence in pre season.
not sure why some on here think he will be number 2 i would think he would be in ahead gerkin who makes good saves at times but is error prone and does not kick well

Blues1 it was during jewell's reign that we tried to sign the 3 pompey players and unlike mccarthy's tenure we dilly dallied around far too much with negotiations. The will he/wont he transfer saga's dont really happen now with mick which is great. I thought at the time we were given permission to speak to ward and henderson at the least. We left negotiations too late in the window

The difference between now and Cleggies tenure is that we will be sounding out other targets in the background, but as per with MM this will be kept quiet. If Hendo is on 20k a week it will require a big pay cut to come here. I thought he did well for us in both spells on loan and would have him back but I don't think we can afford him. Maybe he's quite happy sitting on a bench and getting 20k a week. If anyone has any benches for me to sit on I will do so for 20k a week, and unlike footballers I will e there all week, not just once or twice. The club will walk away if an when we get a suitable alternative lined up. The Cressie fee is in instalments only anyway so we're hardly flush. It will be Notts county that takes the hit in the long term should that happen. I wonder if a certain C. Kiwomya has had any input on this guy?

jimmy86. I stand corrected on the era that they were linked here. and yes, we were I believe given permission to talk to all 3 but only actually had talks with joel ward who wanted mega wages to sign. kerryblue. well done, one of the most ridiculous posts on here ever. this is nothing like clegg(the man who signed more players in his time as ceo than any other at this club, btw), at all. this is a case of a club agreeing to let a player go on a free but changing their minds after we came into a bit of money, quite within their rights, but so are town for holding out for the original deal if at all possible. having said that, if we really want him then maybe we should come to some agreement with them and pay a small fee. either that or move on. whichever though Im backing itfc on this.

Blues1 another reason cited by ward was that he didnt wanna move away from his family, so guessing he was a bit of a mummys boy!!! Think we should go for sam walker, as mick watched him several times at the end if last season

Why is Henderson now 'all things to all people' on here ? - he made it quite clear to anyone with a brain when he was here previously , that he had no interest in anything from us - other than a loan period for his own benefit.

He's not that good either - otherwise West Ham would want him !!!!

All of a sudden everyone forgets this and wants him here.

If MM rates Bart' (which his does, but wants yet another freebie) - cough up the 'small fee' and get him in.
If he is not worth the 'small fee' - Why are we interested in him anyway ?????

Common sense and logic - no longer common !!

FREEBIES, FREEBIES, and even more FREEBIES wanted. Don't even mention a FEE.
Form a disorderly queue - adjacent to any Turnstile.

Even tho' we've sold Cresswell.

Blues1 if it hadn't been for clegg we would have had charlie Austin & Ross Mccormack here, and long drawn out negotiations were his speciality, I suggest if u don't remember the facts of his miserable era u shouldn't comment or perhaps your showing early signs of Alzheimers, good luck with it

Kerryblue,

The first sign that an argument is lost is when one party hurls abuse at the other. Your comments about Alzheimer's are unworthy. In any event you are raking the ashes of history and whatever views you may have regarding Mr Clegg have no relevance with regard to this particular situation. Whether or not we might have signed, or might not have signed the players you claim as definites is one thing; as to whether the fact that they didn't is down purely to Clegg is another and something that does not concern us now.

blueboy - you dont learn do you. You jumped too early the other week shouting that we had made no signings and bam , three walk in the door. I think you really should hold fire, cos i feel you might be made to look silly in the next couple of weeks.

Kerryblue. Before u insult me I think you should get ur facts right. For 1, we were never in for ross mccormack at any time. And as for Charlie Austen. He had actually agreed terms with clegg and had agreed to sign for us until his previous manager at bournemouth approached him to join Burnley instead. Amd the rest is history. So how was Clegg to blame for that

blues1 added 22:11 - Jul 10
Oh and before u accuse me of having alzheimers over mccoemack. Yes, we were linked with him but at no time did we make a move for him. Whwther we should have done is another story.

The video which Cleggo added does show him to be a very good shot stopper, but what's he like commanding his area? Communicating? Dealing with crosses etc?
He looks like he could be the next Matteo Sereni.

blues1 added 22:37 - Jul 10
buryblue. Ur questipn is fair. Tbh there are very few rubbish keepers about nowadays. But also there are not that many who are that good at commanding their area. That seems to be a bit of a lost art in goalkeeping. Particularly at the level that we can afford.

Bobblehat - you don't learn either do you ? - if a Club means serious business, players need to be in early doors, we've heard enough from the likes on here about players needing to Gel / Settle in etc; etc; previously - and quite rightly so may I add.

A Goalkeeper certainly needs that with his Defenders - Do we have that No. 1 Goalkeeper at present ? - debatable that.
I hope you are right in saying I may be made to look silly in the next couple of weeks, with signings, I guess you refer to. If so, it won't be before time - and what about the time needed to Gel etc; etc; - not ideal after / on the eve of the season starting hey. That's NOT hitting the ground running.

As for the three signings - one / two of them were here anyway - or as good as.

Far too many people make excuses for everything in todays world - look at that shambles of a National Team, and people STILL make excuses.

Brian Clough - had it all spot on. Long may his name live on.

Who have we signed?

blues1 added 23:22 - Jul 10
blueboy1981. what are you on about? yes, ur right, of course you want players to have the chance to gel before the season starts. but we haven't even played our 1st friendly yet, so plenty of time for that to happen. no club has signed every player they want to yet. if we were to get to within a few days of the season starting without signing anyone else, then yes, youd have a point but at the no theres no argument at all with the way things are going. you say 2 of the signings were almost here already? rubbish, neither of them had a contract here and so both had as much opportunity to go elsewhere as well as here so both had to be persuaded that this is the right clun for them

Enough of the handbags Gentlemen!T. he fact is its getting tiresome now, and i still stand by an earlier post, would anyone be happy with this guy between the sticks on derby day?
I,m not so sure that i would be! we know so little about the man, lower league keeper, facing just out of the prem, i would say team, but shall settle for lot! a justout of the prem lot! there that reads better.
Who would be happy then?
If he signed it could very easily happen should Gerks take a knock!
