McCarthy: Taylor Can Leave
Saturday, 2nd Aug 2014 17:33

Town boss Mick McCarthy has confirmed that striker Paul Taylor is available for transfer or loan having been left out of the Blues’ 21-man squad at Leyton Orient today.

“He’s available for transfer or loan. He won’t be playing for me,” McCarthy said afterwards. “He’s not for me.

"That was made clear at the end of last season, so I’m not saying anything that I haven’t already said and it’s not ‘shock, horror, that’s a good story’ because that was the case last season.

“I thought that I’d have a look at it, assess it. He came back really fit, he’s a had a go, but he’s just not for me.”

Taylor, 26, joined Town from Peterborough for an initial fee of £1.5 million in the summer of 2012 but, having suffered a serious foot injury soon after signing, has been unable to break into the first team on a regular basis.

The man is wrong! Taylor will come back and bite us for sure!

Personal note for Paul Taylor, move on mate to somewhere you will be appreciated for your undoubted skill!

Christ how many games did (messi) Taylor play plus goals? This guy is the last bad apple at the club, Goodbye.

Some people have short memories...the only true bits of quality in the 2nd half against Burnley at the end of last season came from Taylor - the cross from tight in by the corner flag and the free kick. To me he is a good 'option' for Mick to have as he has quality but maybe not the character.

Perhaps it come s down to something other than football...and maybe the wages he's on.

You have been the only one on here that has spoken any sense.

MM is very much a one dimensional manager. Championship level at best.

I'm not saying Taylor is perfect, but he is a talented lad and that is what McCarthy should focus on.

Good luck blues for the new season ahead. We will need it with ' Mr one Dimensional' in charge!!!

@monkeyblue. Decide what side of the fence your on. You say one thing then minus people who say exactly the same.

We certainly could do with that £1.5million we paid for him now ??? and I can see Marcus Evans paying up his contract to go, ( Mutual consent I think they call it ) like he has had to do with the other players that have left ??? no wonder his purse strings have got knotted. ??

moan? not me just making a case I never said he was 'brilliant' you did. There might well be a case against his character - but just a glimpse of that game showed he had more quality than some players around him. Nouble had the effort but sadly as we all know but far from the finished product.

Loan terminated at Chester for 3 breaches of discipline, then tested positive for cocaine. Turned down a move to us based on wages which came after being offered a contract by peterboro to become their best paid player. Arrives at Ipswich eventually and gets a suspended sentence after being found guilty of ABH.... and has three previous criminal convictions. Ok, ignore all of that and concentrate on the brilliant seasons he's had in football... exactly, one season where he was ok at the POSH.. or you could look at his exploits for Vauxhall Motors or a 5th level Belgian side? I just don't get the idea that at 26 he's some hugely talented player when at no point in his career at any decent level has he shown this. There is no argument for a soon to be 27 year old with this history being a loss to our club either as a model pro or from a performance on the pitch point of view

@monkeyblue i wasnt saying Didz is just a hold up player, i meant he does a lot of his work with his back to goal and brings other players in to the game. Hes not a speed merchant who runs on to balls behind defences cus he doesnt have the pace. For big stong strikers see Murphy, Nouble and Bajner. Those are the types of strikers Mick likes.I was just pointing out he doesnt like speed merchants.
Im not a huge Taylor fan but he was never given a run from day 1 incase he performed well enough to jusify future selection.

I have heard very negative things from someone who knew him very well. It would not be possible to repeat these things here. MM decision is probably nothing to do with football. The previous management did not keep their 'ear to the ground' and ended up with Taylor. At the time, all the other good Peterborough players had been cherry-picked. I wonder why Taylor was still there? MM would never have signed Chopra, Taylor (or some of those other duds that Keane and Jewell signed). Our board are just as guilty; even I knew that the Sunderland players threw a party when Keane left! MM is definitely not a mug. Stop talking about Taylor's football; It is irrelevant. See Monkey_Blue above, he is spot on.

thebeat... I would disagree that MM doesn't like pace but, yes, he does like players who can hold it up and who work their socks off for the team. we are not in a position to have a luxury player. Taylor at no point has been ignored or left out because he has pace. I suspect if you asked MM he'd love all 11 on the pitch to be speed merchants. I just don't think a player can complain in Taylors position... he gets the chance to impress the manager EVERY day in training and from what I see of Mick, he's not got an ego, he'll play someone if they deserve it. I have just never seen anything to suggest Taylor is worth playing in the side.

Eeyore... I know someone who works on the football side at the club and there wasn't a member of staff let alone the players who weren't relieved that keane left. the phrase's he used were "unbearable" , "unreasonable" and "irrational" when it came to RK.

Get over it guys! There isn't exactly people banging down the food to get him! Obviously he has a terrible attitude! Something we don't need at the club

I like MM as a man and think he has done well with bugger all budget but getting rid of Taylor is not great news for those of us who detest the dour rubbish MM serves up and Portman Road crowds will continue to be poor until the next manager turns up.

Agree monkey blue, mcgoldrick much better than big and strong. Keep him fit and we have one of the best strikers in the league.

I know what your saying in your earlier reference that there hasn't been a stampede since he was put on the transfer list. Goes back to what I was saying earlier that somthing must have happened.

Didn't he also have a reputation at posh in his earlier days there?

Yet again though it's another big signing failure at the club in the last 10 years.

AUF WEIDERSEHN PETe .................? Or will he sit it out for 12 months? Balint has already matched his goal tally - although friendlies don't really count but you get my drift.

With the season fast approaching we need everything in place to be in with any chance of a top 6 finish,I suggest we may never know exactly what has gone on with Taylor and ITFC but I for one trust Mick and will fully support his judgment in whatever he decides to do.He has the interests of the club on his shoulders and if he thinks Taylor for whatever reason is a bad apple which is going to be disruptive to the team in anyway shape or form he should go.Only 7 days to go and counting,so looking forward to this season lets really get behind Mick and the boys it`s going to be emotional......COYB

As for the rumour of a season loan of Jonny Williams from Palace - forget it that's all it is! your in dream land. Pulis has already stated before he picked up a minor injury in pre-season that he has 'plans' for him at Palace this season.

Talbs77 he had a bad reputation when he was at Vauxhall motors and chester. Apart from his Cocaine test, the ABH conviction when at Town was his 4th criminal conviction. I very much doubt he's a guy who'll play any higher than lower end championship team and probably lower leagues. I expect he'll at best go on loan and more likely we'll end up paying him off or paying part of his wages to get rid.
