Keane: At Ipswich I Managed Badly
Keane: At Ipswich I Managed Badly
Tuesday, 7th Oct 2014 13:26

Former Town boss Roy Keane’s second autobiography The Second Half is published Thursday but after a Manchester branch of Tesco put it on sale early passages have begun to appear on Twitter and in the national media.

While much of the material leaked so far centres around his time at Manchester United, the Irishman includes a chapter on what he accepts were 20 unsuccessful months at Town.

"I don't think I'm a bad manager, but at Ipswich I managed badly,” he says in the book, which he wrote with Booker Prize-winning author Roddy Doyle.

"I spoke to some people like something on the bottom of my shoe,” concedes Keane, who is now the assistant manager of the Republic of Ireland and Aston Villa.

“I couldn't feel it - me and the club,” he admitted, adding, "I don't f****** like blue. City were blue, Rangers were blue. My biggest rivals were blue. Is that childish?”

The Second Half is officially published on Thursday and is available from Amazon here.

It didn't look right at the time and it doesn't look right now.

Roy Keane really is a bellend...I simply cringe when I see him analising games on ITV.

"Mick McCarthy is a blue, is a blue. Mick McCarthy is a blue, he HATES Roy Keane."

Personally, I don't think the man had any intention of doing anything here other than mess up big time, and take the cash for doing so.

Shame he didn't tell ME he didn't 'like Blue' and had 'no feeling for the Club' before he was appointed, in fairness he really let Evans down, and almost ruined our Club in the process.
Never did rate PJ either before or after his appointment - but in fairness he had a right mess to sort, which obviously he wasn't up to - to be honest.

We must NEVER rest on our laurels - but I have to say we are light years ahead of those days know - thank goodness.

And need to be.

Blueboy, I thought that PJ could have been a good appointment but I agree that the mess left by Keane was too much for him to sort out.Agree with all your other points,Keane was just here for the money.

PJH you're really amusing......Jewell could have been a good appointment but I agree that the mess left by Keane was too much for him to sort out?? What mess? Jewell was a f..... mess who destroyed ITFC. Keane despite all his faults was nowhere near terrible as Jewell.

Get over it grandpa. Id rather be childish than an arse. Id rather be childish than a nasty, self centered piece of work that takes pleasure in hurting other people. Alfie Inge Hagaland never deserved what he was on the end of, which was a deliberate and intentional attempt to cause serious injury and would under any other circumstances be viewed as ABH so I shall stand by my assessment of mr Keane quite happily

Hoped when RK came to us, the Town were on the verge of great things under his management.Should have known better.Crap manager to put it mildly.
Just glad we have a decent team in MM & TC at the helm.RK could learn a lot from them if he could get his head out of his ar$e.

Mach foreignBlue-if the club was not in a mess then why was Keane sacked? He had taken a club from the edge of the playoffs to the edge of relegation. Ultimetly PJ did not improve things but I thought that when he was appointed he MIGHT have been a success.

Mach_foreignBlue added 20:34 - Oct 7
PJH so given you logic every manager getting sacked in this country leaves a 'mess', eh?
How on earth 'mess of squad' beat Arsenal in the semi-finals?
Keane was the 2nd worst Town manager. He failed and he had to go. Then came in a real nightmare in Jewell. Jewell who not only fooked us up as he had done the same at Derby and Sheffield Wed.

Mach foreignBlue-PJ obviously not a success here, all I am saying is that when he was appointed I thought that he MIGHT be a good appointment having done well at Bradford and Wigan.

I also thought Jewell might be a good appointment. Turned out to be an utter disaster and this is not only about some embarrassing results.

Yet again this prick has more airtime. Keane you put my beloved club back by 5 years. Please, no one buy this idiots book and put even more cash into his bank account. Consider yourself a lucky man that you got to manage our great club.........now f off you tw×t

I don't know why he feels the need to say this. After all, his results whilst at Town say it all for him. Just a Big Time Charlie with an ego to match. Just can't imagine how Martin O'Neill puts up with him.

A disgusting ignorant man. Have met him once hopefully never again. Problem is I am from Cork also.

Mach foreignBlue-So we agree. Both you and I thought that PJ might have been a good appointment at the time and we both now know that he turned out not to be.The only argument is whether he or Keane did the most damage-on that we seem to disagree.I would hope that everyone(even those that still do not like MM)agree that we are now in our best state for a number of years.

grumptoldman and runningout.

Keane's tenure was utterly devisive but at least the overwhelming majority now agree he was a truly abysmal manager for Town.

So you think that childish comments are being posted? In what way? It's very easy to call the comments of others childish but carefully avoid posting a more detailed argument. It sounds like you don't have one. His time as manager had few redeeming points and brought our club to the brink of disaster.

The "childish" comments show that town fans care and don't ever want the same mistakes to be made again.

Not sure what all the fuss is about, we told him that while he was at PR!

I think we'd better leave it that way!!

I have to be perfectly honest and say that at the time I thought the Keane/Clegg combo was the deram ticket and would get us up.

It soon became clear however that the man was poisoning the club from top to bottom and was a complete disaster.

If Joe or Mick had a fraction of the money he had, to get a decent keeper for example ( a problem which if not solved soon will cost us the play offs again) then we would be up now.
