McCarthy Happy to Extend Hewitt Loan But Could Use Recall
Thursday, 30th Oct 2014 15:38

Town boss Mick McCarthy says he’s happy for Elliott Hewitt to extend his loan at Colchester United but will recall the Wales U21 international if Jonny Parr’s groin problem proves to be anything more than a niggle. Hewitt’s current one-month spell is up after Colchester’s home game with Port Vale on Saturday.

McCarthy says he’s spoken to U’s boss Tony Humes regarding the 20-year-old’s situation: “I’ve had a discussion with him and I said to him that Jonny Parr’s got a bit of a niggle with his groin.

“If he has any problems with that long-term, I’ll bring him back. If not I’ll leave him there.

“We’ve got a 24-hour recall after Saturday, so within 24 hours I can call him back. I’ll let him play there as long as I can.”

He can't recall him until after Saturday. No recall in the first 28 days.

Should come back after his loan is up - a few injuries now being picked up.

That's why it is a 24 hour recall, TimmyH.... so he can be properly match fit (as he is playing every game for Col U), but we can get him back if we have injuries. Would be stupid to recall him unless he was going to play.
