Cup Replay Live on BBC
Wednesday, 7th Jan 2015 10:00

Town’s FA Cup third round replay against Southampton at Portman Road on Wednesday 14th January has been chosen for live coverage on BBC One. The match will now kick-off at 7.55pm.

The Blues and Saints fought out an entertaining 1-1 draw at St Mary’s on Sunday with Darren Ambrose netting his first goal for the Blues in almost 12 years.

The clubs will each receive a £72,000 broadcast fee. Town’s last live appearance on BBC One was the derby at Norwich in November 2010, while the second leg of the Capital One Cup semi-final at Arsenal in January 2011 was on BBC Two.

Home tickets for the game are selling quickly with queues outside the ground and online this morning as supporters look to secure their seats. Details of the priority scheme and pricing can be found here. Season ticket holders now have until 9am on Saturday to reserve their seats, while general sale starts from 9am on Friday.

An overall sell-out seems unlikely, however, as the Saints probably won't take up their full allocation. Portman Road's last sell-out was the first leg of the Capital One Cup semi-final with the Gunners, also in January 2011.

Re-open the old ticket office ! I predict this WILL happen if we get promoted, or they will have to put more tills into Planet Blue and open upstairs as well !

Can't log on on line as the site says I'm in a que then times me out after 30 minutes of waiting. I really don't understand why the club can't get their act together over this sort of thing - it's embarrassing.

It's more important we concentrate on Derby but would be good to put in a decent performance against Southampton and win, would be fun to have the palace fans come to PR

Agree Michael11, I live in Staffordshire so viewing is difficult apart from games at places such as Bolton, Derby and Forest

Agreed Fredbarber, we could buy 7 more Tyrone Mings with that TV money and still have change to arrange for a couple of airplanes to fly over Carrot Road when we get promoted!!

The ticking is pathetic. I was in the queue for over an hour and a half this morning and hardly moved. It was going to take at least another hour and a half to get served so I had to leave. Plan at least four hours once it's a fee for all. I shall now watch on television.

I took 9 others to St Mary's and have to say that I have NEVER enjoyed a Town game more - GREAT to be there in the flesh amid such a loud and cheerful following.

WAS planning to go to PR too - but due to my wife's illness I am giving it a miss .,.. yes she DOES come before the club !

But you can be sure that I'll be watching on the TV - and shouting just as loud !!

COYB - pressure is off, Saints must be favourites, but ... everyone said that on Sunday didn't they ?!?!

maninashed and others, I'm assuming if you can get on Facebook you can get into ITFC site. I had message that said on line queue was 23 mins but I barely had time to make coffee and I was in. Transaction swiftly completed so it took ten minutes of my time. Perhaps you were unlucky or impatient but it's not pathetic.

Anyone else think that how we do in the replay will show EVEN more of our premier chances than the first game ... you play everyone twice in the league !!!

If we come through derby unscathed on Saturday I hope we play a very strong team for the replay ... I KNOW injuries are always possible, but this game will teach Mick so much about next year ...

COYB!!!

Excellent news for the club and welcome additional revenue as well. I doubt the gate will suffer as looks like a sell out from the Ipswich side. All extra income along with a recent increase in league gates. No excuse for not strengthening the squad further in January. Nothing major though.

Weve had this soft talk about armchair supporters!! Some of us live around the british isles and its expensive. Doesnt make us less of a fan to follow the Blues does it!! Coyb where ever u catch the game. Lets all pull together!!!

At last BBC does something right! and quite unbelievably so (as we know Beeb aren't great Ipswich lovers). I wonder how many times they'll use the term 'Tractor Boys' which I can't stand!! where did that ever come from?!?
As mentioned by another poster Saturday is more important whilst this game should be for a bit of fun.

Great news was going to watch Derby match on tv then travel down midweek, cannot afford both so much better to drive down Saturday rather than midweek as I feel we need all the support we can get against Derby COYB.
