Town Stay Third as Bournemouth Lose
Wednesday, 25th Feb 2015 22:20

Town remain third in the Championship after fourth-placed Bournemouth lost 2-1 at Nottingham Forest this evening.

The Cherries went in front in only the third minute through Andrew Surman but Forest hit back via Jamaal Lascelles and Henri Lansbury on 21 and 44 to claim all three points.

Following the midweek fixtures, the Blues (60 points) are five points behind leaders Derby (65), three short of Middlesbrough (63) in second and a point ahead of Bournemouth, fifth-placed Norwich City, who they face in Sunday’s biggest-for-some-while East Anglian derby at Carrow Road, and Watford in sixth (all 59). Seventh-placed Brentford (58) are a point further back.

On Saturday, the Rams are at Fulham, Boro are away against Sheffield Wednesday, the Cherries are at home to Blackburn, Watford travel to Leeds and the Bees are at Birmingham.

Well done and thanks Forest. After spending time in the top 6 earlier in the season Forest then hit a bad patch which now seems to be over with 10 points from 4 games.
By comparison Bournemouth have gained 2 points; Norwich 12 and Ipswich 9 from 4.
We need to be really focused at the back on Sunday. Must say that I am impressed with Sears who has good pace as well as an eye for goal often making his own opportunities. He will unsettle the Norwich defence. Roll on Sunday.
Good times (mainly!)

Everyone will drop points between now and the end of the season. The most important thing is bouncing back like we did against Wednesday and Fulham, now after Reading we bounced back against B'Ham and the Norwich game could be a real marker.
Derby are looking good as are Norwich and Watford, momentum is vital.

My hopes for Sunday are not to lose. That isn't being negative, it's maintaining our position in the pack. We can't afford to lose 2 points against the teams around us. We are due a win in the derby so as a gambling man I'm quietly confident.

Good stuff! Being 24 years old, Sunday really is the biggest derby game I can ever remember. Can't wait for it. That lot are well overdue a defeat now! COYB!!

Bornemouth have lost two on the trot in the league - something we have avoided all season. Judging by most comments on here when we lose, Bournemouth must now be total crap and Eddie Howe clueless!!

Norwich is a must win game now.

Why? A draw would be a great result.

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe: "With the way we started the game, I am baffled as to how we lost.

So is he clueless after all then?

To repeat someone from last week - how great is it that we're all nervously following the teams at the top of the division's results? This was a great way to start the day

So world-beaters Bournemouth are now below that "hoofball" team Ipswich. Funny how things work out! One team is going to drop out of the top six. You just never know.....

What worries me is the fact it's so tight up the top!

If someone lose they could see themselves out of the playoffs!

Most certainly believe B'mouth will come good again, therefore their blip is most welcome. Brentford have surprised me, considering the removal of the manager come May. Its all very tight and exciting, here's hoping!

So, 76% possession for B'mouth but they lost.

Seriously, if that had been us, the comments would be flooded with numpties telling us of our clubs impending doom, and how Mick has no idea....Bournemouth must be on their way to relegation now.

March defines our season , every game winnable ,every game we could lose or draw. If we can possibly achieve an average of 2 points per game between now and seasons end ,then at the very least we would be 3rd 4th 5th or 6th.

If MM ever decides to move on, that "bumptious" eddie howe would be more than welcome at Portman Road. Both good mangers in their own ways

Got to say it ... Bournemouth are a classy team ... and that is down to two things ...

1MONEY from new owners (crowds are only 10K) AND from luck with excellent "sell on clauses" (let's hope Grabban doesn't show what AFCB were missing last night against us on Sunday!)

and (before I was rudely interrupted by a careless click of the mouse!)

2 EDDIE HOWE ..... before him they were clueless, with him they rose ... when he went to Burnley they were clueless and since he has come back they are playing great football in all positions and are genuine candidates for automatic promotion.

ONLY IF Mick was to go, I would certainly welcome him as our next manager, but then so too would a LOT of clubs.

His time at Burnley was a blip where noone did their homework properly before the appointment which was doomed from day one.

He needs lessons before the news mics, but as a coach and a team-building manager he is top drawer!

Meanwhile, back at the story .... THIRD ... after our definite blip we are THIRD ... Norwich may well be on a roll, but we are THIRD - and Sunday will be a very tense time. Any result is possible - COYB

That said - please can we stop adding pressure on players and staff with this "ONE MATCH will determine our season" rubbish.... until the last match, that is !

I much prefer "MArch will determine our season" as someone said above - one match can take out out of top six - and one more could bring us back in !!!!

Get behind the boys - no more talk of who we should have in our out - team or managers - get behind what we have got .... after all, it is CERTAINLY a better squad than we've had for many years, and a better manager .... just hope we look towards THEIR goal a few times on Sunday as well as towards ours !

But - we are THIRD !!!!!!! COYB!

Fully agree with RaymondovicBlue.

On Tuesday night Gary Rowett, a manager of a professional football team said:

"We felt even at half-time that the home fans were sounding like they were getting a little frustrated with one or two misplaced passes and we knew that if we scored in the second half then we'd give ourselves a massive chance.''

As in all competitive situations at a high level, very small margins are the difference between sucess and failure. If managers believe that fans can make a difference, however small, and are prepared to state this then it is probably the case.

Whilst I respect the point that as fans we pay our money and so are entitled to our opinion it could also be counter productive. You may buy a brand new car and a few weeks later not be entirely happy with all aspects of it, but would you then purposefully drive it into a ditch purely because you had invested in it and you can because it is yours?

We are in a really nice position and its a lot of fun, and regardless we will all still be here next season and the one after that so we should play the limited positive part we can (I can't imagine I am the only one gutted never to have been a player/manager). Dont forget how Burley was turned upon so quickly and we haven't really excelled since then.

COME ON. SO CLOSE!!!
