Championship Top Two Lose
Saturday, 28th Feb 2015 17:47

Saturday’s Championship results saw top two Derby and Middlesbrough both suffer defeats, while Bournemouth drew.

The top-of-the-table Rams (65 points) lost 2-0 at Fulham, while second-placed Boro (63) were beaten by the same scoreline at Sheffield Wednesday.

Watford (62) climbed to third after coming from behind to win 3-2 at Leeds, who Town face at Elland Road on Wednesday. The Cherries (60) are fourth having drawn 0-0 at home to Blackburn.

The Blues (also 60) are down to fifth, one place and one point ahead of tomorrow’s East Anglian derby opponents Norwich City (59).

Town are likely to go third in the Championship if they win at Carrow Road. The Blues have a significantly worse goal difference than everyone in the top six and it would take a record 6-0 derby victory to climb ahead of second-placed Middlesbrough.

Brentford (58) in seventh lost 1-0 at Birmingham, while eighth-placed Wolves (57) won 1-0 at Cardiff City.

Who would have predicted These results today?

Coyb! For once let's take advantage

I hope the team are watching previous Derby day victories to get us in the zone

Just when you thought this game couldn't get any more tasty! A few weeks a go we were the only team to lose and everyone else won, knows our time to get that game back! A win tomorrow could be the momentum push we need to actually get promoted

Nervous for tomorrow! God knows how the players feels, never wanted to win a game so much!

You can do it lads! Tomorrows your day!

For all those with a negative outlook on the team, it's worth noting that both winning teams were beaten by us recently. Every time we slip up the team (and certain of our own players usually) get slated here..
MM has said this league is bonkers. He's right. On any given day any team can take points off anyone else..
Would love to know if the Derby / Boro / Bournemouth fans are on their respective forums slating their manager and players right now?

please please please lads, give everything you have, run until you cant run anymore. I want this win so badly it hurts. If Tabb and Anderson do start, give them hell. The match day report on here stated 'whoever wins this get promoted' well that title just got real!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cannot believe results today. Had an 8 fold accumulator on the results of top 9 teams. Just need 10 to win tomorrow for a £2 bet to return me £10392. Come on you blues. This league is barmy. My 8 fold choices were all based on the role of a dice.

Handy... but don't give much interest to other teams. Should our squad be focused on our own game we can be smiling every weekend... Maybe that's asking for too much :-)

A couple of weeks ago it looked like the top 6 were pulling away with Derby seemingly set for one of the automatic places; now it's all bunched up again with Wolves very much back in the mix & even Forest not out of it- how they must wish they'd sacked Pearce a month earlier.
Tomorrow is a massive game & I feel we have to get something out of it to keep momentum & confidence up during a period of Injuries, changes & difficult upcoming fixtures. A win would be brilliant but I'd happily take a point away to the form team in a derby match at this stage of the season. They have a very strong squad & are particularly strong in midfield. Hard to see us winning that battle, so hitting them quickly on the break & playing to the strenghts Murph, Freddie & hopefully Wood give us is our best option for getting a result.

I have been to more than 20 derbies over the border since my first one in 1964 and this is potentially the biggest(except for maybe 1985 Milk Cup semi).
A draw would do for me but a win would be great.
We (players and supporters) must not come home with any regrets.
We must give our all both on and off the pitch.

We're almost always jinxed when the other pretenders to our throne mess things up. Here's hoping tomorrow will be the start of a renaissance of Dominance des Tracteur-Garcons! :-)

Really hope we give it a good go tommorow and don't set up for a draw. Usually when other results have gone our way we then bottle it and fail to take advantage of it. Let's smash the budgies and then go on a little run again. COYB!!!

if Forest continue in the form their in, they too, will join the mix!
All is up for grabs, for me, I expected B'mouth to pull away from rest, but thankfully, their form has deserted them, at least for now!
As for tomorrow.....I expect Neil, with his band of yellow men, to throw the bird cage at us, from the first minute. Having seen his managerial style at Accies, his team play with a high tempo. Hopefully we can ride out the early stages, or alternatively take the game to them....no doubt McCarthy has a plan.
Surely Parr will play, where we don't know, my guess would be midfield, and wouldn't be surprised to see Chaplow start.
Game is set up to be a cracker, really hope we keep our shape, and channel our aggression properly.
If the right team is picked, then that is all we can ask for, the rest will take care of itself. Wouldn't it be something if all on forum joined in union come late Sunday afternoon.
He's to hoping!

.......... the incentive is there for us, yet again, to capitalise and take advantage.

This time, let's be up for it - with 3 points tomorrow. At em' from the off - no messing.

Really really nervous about this one, i fear a drubbing, can barely dare to watch it, must be my age i think? But they could with young Freddie on fire at the mo, do them over, how good would that be?

Bluetone. One sentence should not create so much laughter. Nice One.

Seperatley is The Milk Cup all they have that we have never had? Isnt that what the ''You'll never play for Acrington Stanley if you don't drink this' advert was all about? Man we will be harping on about the Wilhire Cup Soon.

Strangely enough for this match I feel MM has enough experience to thwart Neil and his band of merry canaries and even if his style of play is not pleasing on the eye and at times cringeful, could be that his style is just what is needed to bring them down a peg or two.6-0 would be wonderful but will settle for a hard fought 2-1 win. Remember lads...pass the ball, keep moving and let the opposition do the running around.COYB...a time for heroes!
