Williams Can't Wait to Get Started
Friday, 27th Mar 2015 10:42

Returning loanee Jonny Williams says he can’t wait to get started having rejoined the Blues for a third spell from Crystal Palace yesterday.

The 21-year-old, whose Palace team-mate Zeki Fryers also moved to Town on loan yesterday, recently returned to training having been out of action since suffering the groin injury which ended his second spell at the club in the 1-0 victory over Watford in November.

“The last five months have been very tough but the support I’ve had from fans during that period has been special,” he told the club site.

“I’m delighted to be back at Ipswich and I can’t wait to get back out on the pitch again. I really enjoyed my last two spells here and I’m looking forward to starting my third.

“The boys are doing really well and I’m hoping I can contribute wherever possible in this promotion push.

“They’re a great bunch of lads and I’m looking forward to working with them and the staff again. I just can’t wait to get started now.”

With clubs unable to take players on two emergency loans in the same campaign, Williams is restarting this season’s earlier loan at the point he suffered the injury.

We understand he has 53 days of the maximum 93 remaining which will take him to the play-off semi-finals but means he would miss the final if Town make it to Wembley.

Williams looks set to make his third debut for the Blues when AFC Bournemouth are at Portman Road on Good Friday, probably from the bench given his recent fitness problems.

Town fought off reported interest from Wolves, Fulham and Watford to sign the Wales international midfielder for the third time.

What on Earth is the point of the transfer window closing 8 days before our next match?? If it closed next Thursday, he would have been eligible for the play-off final, should we make it.

Time for you to ask for a permanent move to a club that you clearly enjoy being with and a club that wants you. Please Jonny, come here for good.

Swedish newspapers this morning say that Ekstrand is out for 9-12 months with a cruciate ligament injury. Pretty tough, but what goes round ....
