Cresswell Three-Time West Ham Player of the Year
Thursday, 7th May 2015 09:04

Former Blue Aaron Cresswell was named the Hammer of the Year, Signing of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year at last night’s West Ham United Player Awards.

The 25-year-old has enjoyed a terrific first season in the Premier League since moving from Portman Road to Upton Park last summer and is reportedly interesting Manchester City and Chelsea.

“It’s a privilege to win these awards,” Cresswell said after receiving the gongs at the event at the London Hilton on Park Lane.

“If someone had told me when I joined from Ipswich that I would have played every game and every minute up to now, I’d have snapped your hand off. To come here and collect these awards was a fantastic honour.”

Former Tranmere man Cresswell outlined how his July switch to the Hammers came about.

“I got a phone call from my agent and obviously West Ham was the main place I wanted to go, moving down the A12 from Ipswich to West Ham.

“When I told them I was going to West Ham, obviously my family were very proud. This year has gone very well for me personally and for the team.

“Sam [Allardyce] is a very similar sort of manager to Mick McCarthy, who I worked with at Ipswich and he has been fantastic with me this season, so I can’t thank him enough.”

The Blues received an initial £3.75 million for the Liverpudlian with the fee potentially rising to £7 million depending on top-ups likely to relate to appearances and probably international caps. Town have confirmed that the deal also included a sell-on clause, although the percentage has not been disclosed.

Any add ons will only be paid if he still at west ham. Raycrawfordswig. No, Tranmere don't get a penny if he moves on. They got their sell on when he left us.

A joy to watch he came in and played his heart out for us, his attitude was spot on from day one, you are a refreshing throw back to when football meant all to wannabe's coming into the lower leagues young man and have shown what can be achieved by working hard and listening to people around you, good luck in the future you are loved at West Ham as you were here now get into the England side and then a dream move to Barca or Real and put yourself on the world stage you deserve it .
