Parr in U21s Facing Coventry
Monday, 17th Aug 2015 10:23

Full-back Jonny Parr is amongst those in action for the U21s in their first home game of the season against Coventry City at Playford Road this afternoon (KO 1pm).

Parr is on the way back after a niggly thigh injury which hampered him throughout pre-season and prevented his involvement in Town’s first three first-team matches.

Also involved against the Sky Blues will be out-of-favour winger Cameron Stewart, left-back Myles Kenlock, centre-half Josh Yorwerth, who scored on his senior debut in the Capital One Cup tie against Stevenage last Tuesday, and midfielder Adam McDonnell.

The Blues youngsters got their campaign off to a good start by beating Leeds 2-1 at Elland Road last week.

As things currently stand with our squad, a match fit Jonny Parr is our best option at right back. Even the signing of McGhee from Hearts wouldn't change that in my view, as he is not a first choice at Hearts yet & is one for the future. A fit Jonny Parr is preferable to Chambo, for reasons we saw again on Saturday, & at this stage preferable to Emmanuel with the whole season ahead to think of.
Hope he plays well & comes through without any further niggles.

I can't see mcghee being an Ipswich player anytime soon, so it would benefit us greatly if parr returns to fitness asap

@ Len and Joe but do you think McCarthy would choose him in preference to Chambers? I have my doubts.
