Town Topic: What Changes Would You Make?
Wednesday, 14th Oct 2015 16:39

Town boss Mick McCarthy said he was thinking about “shaking the team up” after the defeat at Blackburn prior to the international break, but what changes would you make when the Blues take on Huddersfield at Portman Road on Saturday?

Post your team, using TWTD’s Team Selector, and thoughts in the comments section below.

I'd start by picking (or not) players who have shown form. That means McGoldrick, Toure and Bialkowski have to go in. It also means that Berra and Douglas are out.
After a good start, I've been concerned with Knudsen recently, so would play Parr in his first choice position, and bring Tabb in because he's hard-working, solid and is good at harrying opponents. Yes, I'd love Fraser to be there, but...
On the other side, Toure has been good, and Maitland-Niles either excellent or all over the place - so a sub for impact later on.
I don't have the same issues with Douglas some do, but he's been anonymous alongside Skuse, and while I'd naturally go with Bishop, I'm unsure of his fitness, so Bru comes in. If Bishop is fit, he's on the bench in place of Douglas. Murphy keeps his place up front because of his hold-up play and ability to draw players out, although I thought long and hard about Sears alongside McGoldrick.

He's only thinking about it!!!! for Christ sake has the man not seen that in the past few games an unbalanced back four and a dreadful keeper who inspires no confidence coupled with two one dimension(scuse/douglas) midfielders who offer no fight or positive passing has cost us a shed load of points and dreadful performances which have been painful(and expensive) to watch home and away!!! for heavens sake Mick shake your bloody self up and take a reality check we(who you don't give a toss about) deserve better.

............. should we - for a start, play people in their rightful positions ?? - no square pegs in round holes, now that would be a first to see that under MM .... !!! - and see what that produces.

Or is that too complicated ........... ???

I really want to see MM succeed at Portman Road - but at this rate he will soon qualify for the word 'dinosaur' to be printed across his forehead.

UNFORTUNATELY.

Bart and Bru in for Gerken and Douglas is the obvious choice. McGoldrick also needs starting but you would then have to drop Murphy and that wouldn't suit the long ball tactic. Also with Fraser out I'm hoping Oar is brought in as he looks like a really handy player, but Toure also wouldn't be too bad with how he's started the season.

Out Gerken Chambers Smith Knudsen Skuse Douglas Murphy In Bart Parr Poland Kenlock Bru Bish Pitman Didz . Stop playing people out of position out of form and with no ability. Get Jonny Williams in now to replace our best player this season by a massive distance Frazer. If Mick sticks with any of the back 7 from last few games it can only be Berra (he has been poor but hugely dragged down by the dross around him) and we need to stop playing Murphy who is woefully out of form and dictates our play to be hoofball. No point playing to his feet cos his touch is shocking.

Come on Mick. Do the right thing. Pick positive thinking players not defensively minded plodders with no vision pace or creativity. We are so bad with the current crop of below average journeymen that we have gone from 1st to 12th in 3 weeks and have 2nd worst defensive record in the league.

People will soon stop coming to game because nothing changes. Better team/squad than last year ???? Really ???? On paper but not on grass that's for certain.

McCarthy will of course make a change as Fraser is out!
He'll do no more than the enforced one ans one other, more than that it's not his style and he seems to be becoming incapable of seeing the obvious.
This does become more apparent as he has a history of his management style going downhill, i.e. at Sunderland and Wolves.
And
Dean Gerken has a contract keeping him at Portman Road until the summer of 2017 so don't be surprised if he starts once again against Huddersfield as McCarthy keeps faith with him
Different class is our Gerky

Gerken is one of the worst keepers in the league and must be replaced. Then, Skuse/Douglas must not under any circumstances start as a partnership in central midfield. McGoldrick ... Arguably our best player must start however. Coke and Tabb should not be considered as options, unless we want to be a mid table side. Average players.

Really liked Kenlock when he played in the Carling cup, would swap Gerkin for Bart and would love McGoldrick as an attacking midfielder just behind Murph (he needs that goal) and Sears.Chambers to move beside Smith.

My team would be:
Bart in goal
Chambers, Berra and Smith at the back
Parr and Knudsen operating as wing backs getting up and down the pitch and getting crosses in
Skuse and Bru on a central pairing
Bishop ahead of those two
McGoldrick and Sears up front (with Murphy and/or Pitman alternating/substituting.

If we had a fully fit team it would be, Bart, emmanuel, malazyk, Smith, kenlock, hyam, bru bishop, fraser, sears and Murphy. Players I would have nowhere near first team - gerken, Douglas, toure, and knudesen

I firstly would consider a formation change, as 2 def mids aint working and gives us no link from CM to att, therefore maybe consider a change to 4-1-3-2,

TEAM
GK, Bart
RB, Chambers (Mainly as I don't think MM will change it would like to change
Emmanuel to give him experience for the rest of the season, to challenge
next year)
LB, Knudsen
CB Berra
CB Smith
DM Skuse
LM AMN
RM Oar
CM Bru
ATT Sears
ATT Mcgoldrick,

A lot of thought was taken over the front line and although murphy has been a good player seems off par and didsy is more of an attacking minded link player, of course if we are ahead we can switch bru with douglas and if behind can change same player with murphy and the put didzy in an AM role.
