Maitland-Niles Wins Cap as England U19s Fight Back to Draw
Thursday, 12th Nov 2015 21:44

Loanee midfielder Ainsley Maitland-Niles came off the bench to win his fourth England U19 cap as his side came from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Holland in a friendly at FC ’s-Gravenzande’s Juliana Sportpark

Maitland-Niles, who is on loan for the season from Arsenal, replaced Manchester City’s Patrick Roberts in the 70th minute.

Everton’s Ryan Ledson pulled the first goal back in the 72nd minute with sub Tammy Abraham from Chelsea equalising with two minutes remaining.

The England youngsters, who are coached by Aidy Boothroyd, take on Japan in another friendly at Manchester City’s Academy Stadium on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Hungary's players wore black armbands as a mark of respect to former Town keeper Márton Fülöp during this evening's Euro 2015 play-off first leg in Norway, which they won 1-0.

Striker Tamás Priskin, a team-mate of Fülöp's at Portman Road, who is now with Slovan Bratislava, came on as an injury time sub.

Town are considering how they will pay tribute to Fülöp, who died earlier today aged 32 after a long battle with cancer, when the Blues face Wolves in their next home game a week on Saturday.

England U19s: Sam Howes (West Ham United), Kyle Walker-Peters (Tottenham Hotspur), Rico Henry (Walsall), Ryan Ledson (Everton), Dael Fry (Middlesbrough), Cameron Borthwick-Jackson (Manchester United), Patrick Roberts (Manchester City) (Ainsley Maitland-Niles (Arsenal - on loan at Ipswich Town) 70), Josh Onomah (Tottenham Hotspur), Adam Armstrong (c) (Newcastle United — on loan at Coventry City), Dan Crowley (Arsenal) (Tammy Abraham (Chelsea) 70), Izzy Brown (Chelsea).

Isn't it so sad to see the list of talented youngsters at the "big clubs" who never get a game? So much talent, so hidden.
