Town Down to Ninth
Saturday, 20th Feb 2016 17:27

Town dropped to ninth in the Championship, five points from the play-offs with a game in hand on Sheffield Wednesday in sixth, following today’s fixtures having started the day eighth.

Derby (54 points) came from behind to win 3-1 at Brentford to climb back to fifth ahead of the Owls (53), who lost 1-0 at Preston.

Cardiff City (49) moved up to seventh following their 4-1 home victory over Brighton (fourth, 57), a point ahead of eighth-placed Birmingham and the Blues (both 48), who weren’t in action today.

Meanwhile, Town’s Tuesday opponents, Championship leaders Hull City, made 10 changes as they drew 0-0 with Arsenal at the Emirates in the FA Cup.

Elsewhere, in League One, on-loan Blues winger Cameron Stewart played the first 52 minutes as Doncaster lost 1-0 at Barnsley.

In League Two, Josh Yorwerth picked up an assist as Crawley drew 1-1 at home to Plymouth Argyle, while Matt Clarke was an unused sub as 10-man Portsmouth’s game at Yeovil ended with the same scoreline.

Keeper Michael Crowe’s loan side Braintree made the long trip to Barrow in the Vanarama National League only for their game to be postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Young striker Cemal Ramadan’s loan club Maldon and Tiptree had their Ryman League Division One North match at Waltham Abbey called off, also because of a waterlogged pitch.

Academy scholar Nick Ingram played the full 90 minutes as Bury Town drew 1-1 at home to Cray Wanderers in the Ryman League Division One North.

Total non-story as we didn't even play. Headline may as well have read 'we're bored so take this chance to have another pop at Mick and Marcus'.

Kirbmeister are you happy with the way the team plays, the seemingly lack of ambition at the club. The continual garbage spouted by the club? If you are good for you, others are not. What will it take for you to realise that in its present state this team is not good enough to achieve promotion.

Tuesday nights game,I think is now one of the biggest games of the season.loose this and at Huddersfield on Saturday and with all the teams round us now on a roll our season could well be over. Our squad is now so weak and with the injuries we have we are just not good enough. It's ok for posters to say "don't knock the Board and the management"but just be honest for once and get in the real world,They have let us and the club down.Every August the expectation is great and, come sept/October it's the same old story.Lack of funds, boring football and another wasted season,AGAIN.!

So if we win the next two games we will be back in the top six !! But only if the teams above us lose ???? NOW that is what I call wishful thinking !!!

Sorry kerbmeister meant to agree this site really is starting to depress me, it's not for me to tell ME how to spend his money so let's get behind the team on Tuesday, I agree it's difficult at the moment so 3 points would be fantastic 1point would be good I pray we win so I haven't got to troll through 7 pages of garbage Tues night.

Essex57 yes whoever still attends the matches should support the team, and yes we cannot dictate to Marcus what he does with his money, but we are all entitled to our opinion as are you, and if this site depresses you so much why bother reading seven pages of garbage. I do not attend matches anymore because I do not want to pay to watch garbage, that is why I do not comment on matches

We need a change of ownership Evans out, Even if a new owner only put in as much money as him but communicated to fans we would all feel better, After this action mick would get found out very quickly hes in a time warp as far as football management goes these days

Grumpyoldman - I agree with you but just saying as nothing is happening this weekend this is a chance for us all to have a good moan ahead of the Hull game. That's all I was saying.

Kirbmeister this is also going to turn into non-season. Didnt even attempt to win cup games and we are barely able to compete in the second tier of english football. Add the style of football as well and it is all rather underwhelming, what supporter of ipswich town who is being honest could truly deny these facts?

Its a shame but 3 away league defeats in a row is the reason. Maybe its time to sort out the back 4

The fact is only 3 teams will go up and sadly we are a long way off that level. Yes we all support the team come what may, but the truth is we are all sick of the style of play. I'd rather see us finish mid table if I could come away from PR and say that was an enjoyable match. Early season when we looked up for it MM gets one dodgy result and resorts to his territorial game once more. I've always felt that he sets his teams up not to lose rather than win. Yes some games you have to be more defence minded but you'll never achieve any success unless you are prepared to take a gamble sometimes.

It is said that we aer 80 odd million n debt? and thats the third highest in this division yet i recall Milne saying that the financial situation is very good and things are improving, i have also read that this debt is a personal debt to Marcus Evans, the club owes it to him not a bank? i wish somone with more understanding could put this in laymans terms for me and others!
We were told that when ME bought the club we were some 30 million in debt, but now 80 odd? surely something is going wrong, i,m no financial whizz kid but that tells me of serious mismanagement, to increase by over 50 million pounds??
No wonder nothing is being spent on players!!
I would like some clarity from the club, just where is this debt coming from, too many sticky fingers in the bowl?
I just cannot see us going anywhere, we are the longest serving club in this division, nobody has been here longer!! thats a sad statement! I think MM has done wonders with nil backing but not so sure he is the future, so i wonder on the new contracts just given?
Just take a good long hard look at our squad, just how many could cut it in the prem? one Fraser and he ain,t our,s! we have a squad slowly resembling journeymen, seeing out their playing careers at town, just a few few like Freddie that has a bright future, Teddy, he has been out for the entire season, i doubt very much he will feature at all this year.
Depressing times, it looks like Nodge will be relegated, with the huge payments for what 4 or 5 years for doing so, i would hate to think how we would fare in a derby game at present, we need massive change, from ground roots up for this club we all love dearly to progress!

Oh well this season is over then from what I read. I think I will focus my attention on the premiership relegation battle and hope Norwich go down. Please people on this site tell me they are going to survive and ruin that as well. PROZAC is free on prescription from your GP, give it a try all you loyal supporters. BELIEVE.

Karl Dad Me purchased the debt of the club for 8 or 9 million pound take the 40 odd million pounds wasted by previous managers in the transfer market plus the 5 million pounds per year he subsidies the operating loss per season and you get somewhere near 80 million like it or not without him we would be either with Portsmouth in league 2 or out of business, As a businessman the current strategy makes no sense in my opinion due to the past catastrophic dealings in the transfer market he has taken time to consolidate the situation I think next season is the make or break season for Evans and Mccarthy I feel money will spent in close season that's why they gave MM and TC extended contracts Rome wasn't built in a day.

Grumpeyoldman I read the 7 pages of mostly garbage in amazement at how negative people are as supporters we can hope for better times but have no god given right to success what happened 40-50 years ago unfortunately doesn't give us a right to be successful now.

Before and very briefly after Evans took over the whole town and surrounding areas seemed to be pumped up for ITFC , We had a playing surface second to none,We had players that gave their all for the shirt,We had legends, we had dreams, We competed seriously in cup competitions, we were the Pride of East Anglia. Now I think its all been drained out of the club,Progress had been made after MM came in to rescue Town from what seemed certain relegation ,but finishing out of playoffs is a step backwards however rose coloured the specs are.And i believe we will finish no higher than 12th.
