Youngster Ford Set to Join West Ham
Thursday, 25th Feb 2016 14:37

Academy striker Sam Ford is set to join West Ham following his recent trial spells with the Hammers.

Ford’s two-year scholarship is up at the end of the season and TWTD understands that the former Felixstowe Academy pupil will not be offered new terms by the Blues.

But the 17-year-old has impressed West Ham, where former Blues' youth coach Liam Manning is now on the staff, during his time on trial and is to join the East Londoners.

Last month Ford netted while playing for the Hammers' U18s in a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa and he was on target again earlier this week for their U21s in a 1-1 draw with Wolves.

We give Giles Coke a contract and we don't sign up quality academy players for the future....
If Ford's trial with West Ham didn't pan out he was then on trial for Swansea. If Premier League Clubs wanted him why didn't we?

MM has made some good decisions but some are simply baffling.

Saw him playing fromt he age of 11 variously for Felixstowe / Trimley then watched him a few times in U18 and the u21 match he played. Not good enough, too slow, no skill, looks lazy. Probably the latter point putting off MM.

Botham1981 I witnesses him playing from age of 14-16 when he was playing for st Johns and an alliance team. he was complete opposite to your statement scored over 40 goals for that st johns team...our club never liked playing against them as they battered everyone. Liam Manning is biggest reason he went to west ham from what ive heard

Basically Sams my boy..

And just because he didn't want to run round like a headless chicken and play rugby, Mick didn't like this. At the end of the day Sams the one laughing now isn't he.

As long as Micks here, nothing will change. Mick needs to go. Thanks for keeping us up, but enough is enough.

Kelly - that St John's team was full of the top players for their age in the Ipswich and Felixstowe area who were not involved in the academy. It was not difficult playing for them and not difficult to score. I am sorry we seem to settle for moderation not the best - look at Luke Hyam our current 'he's one of our own'. He couldn't make a pass allnight on Tuesday and whilst he has improved over the last two years, he is at best a League 1 level. The 5 that have been offered scholarships are all skillful exciting players and fully deserve the next chance

Milkout - to be clear, Sam is a great lad, when I have spoken to him in the past he has always been polite and respectful and I know the lads in my teams have loved the battle against him - but I just dont think he is ready for the professional game.
