Town left-back Jonas Knudsen has been left out of the Denmark squad for the Kirin Cup friendly tournament in Japan due to the knee injury which saw the 23-year-old miss the Blues’ final two games of the season.

Knudsen, 23 was named in new Danish manager Ã…ge Hareide’s previous squad but didn’t add to the two senior caps he won before joining the Blues.

Hareide confirmed that Knudsen's injury had forced him out of the Kirin Cup squad at a press conference following its announcement this afternoon.

The hosts, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Bulgaria are also involved in the competition which takes place in early June.

hoppy added 12:55 - May 12 Shame really. Would've been a good opportunity for him, and a good way to cap off a season of vast improvement since he first arrived. Hopefully, he'll have a good relaxing summer and come back even better next season.
