MD Milne Backing Remain Tuesday, 21st Jun 2016 19:15 Town managing director Ian Milne says he is backing the Remain campaign in Thursday’s EU referendum.
Speaking to Ipswich Stronger in Europe, he said: “I believe that Britain is stronger in the EU. The main reason is that Britain’s finance sector is intimately linked with Europe and London dominates several European financial markets.
“I really don’t want to take the risk of London losing its position of one of the world’s top financial sectors.”

I personally don't agree with what a lot of the posters have said, Milne has every right to broadcast his standpoint, no matter how non-passionate and uninspiring the result may have been. Forgetting for a moment the facts and figures thrown about from both sides regarding the UK economy and immigration, I am passionate about the nature and wildlife some of us often take for granted in the UK and feel strongly that leaving the EU would be extremely damaging for our fauna and flora. A huge amount of the legislation protecting our wildlife and endangered species is enforced through EU regulations and directives. If we leave the EU then developers will have a much easier job of destroying the countryside and wildlife in our country that we are trying to conserve. For me, that is the only fact I can actually believe in regarding this EU debate.

I understand that we're not on a politics forum but this post is politics centred and such a big decision does impact the club. Because of the need for visas across Europe that would be in place if we leave it would be harder to scout players abroad and because of economic instability the prices on players would inflate so this could greatly effect every football club in the counrty

Suffolk_n_Proud added 22:07 - Jun 21 Do you honestly believe that dirtyboy or are you just repeating the baseless lies of politicians? I'm a foreign tax expert who spends a great deal of time reseaching and interpreting legislation. I'd like to think i'm above the petty arguements and debates and capable of reading between the lines not buying into the sales pitch of persons who won't even be in power to implement the changes if we do leave. Note; I thought the debate last night was ridiculous on both sides and simplified beyond belief. I also end up having conversations with people I know from, who couldn't pass a simple GCSE yet they seem well placed to regurgitate tabloid rhetoric as if they're some kind of expert. Note, if my carpenter says I need a dovetail joint, then i'll listen to him, not Boris down the pub saying stick it with no more nails. Unfortunately too many people get sold something they don't need or actually want and pay over the odds for it. The Leave campaign are selling something with no tangible on the basis of 'hope' apparently. Hope doesn't pay the bills. The Bill Pullman speech at the end by Boris was preposterous, but the uneducated and easily led will see that as rousing and patriotic and base the most important decision of a lifetime on something like that.

You must be nuts if you think things will get better outside the EU. You won't be richer. You won't get a more democratic country. Britain won't be greater. It won't reduce the number of immigrants. The only thing that will remain will be the NHS. NHS in name only - it'll be sold off bit by bit. Use your head - vote remain.
martin587 added 10:00 - Jun 22
KIkapu, yes but we will have our own identity,be able to make our own decisions and not wait for 27 other countries to decide our fate on OUR own policies.Ok,this is a footie so sight, but just settling for the easy option is not right.SORRY. LEAVE IT IS FOR ME.

Some voices during this campaign have been worth listening to,most haven't. Make up your own minds - Do you want to live in Great Britain or Great Europe? I personally don't trust any of these buffoons on either side to sort out the current problems. Shame we can't get rid of the lot of 'em (here and in the EU).

I think everyone has their own reason to vote "leave" or "remain" and I respect that right to vote how each individual sees fit for that persons view on life in the UK. My personal view is to leave the EU, as I believe we should have the right to look after our own affairs, be ruled by the MP's we elect and live in a democracy not a super state the wastes money, and does not take into consideration that each country has different cultures I believe that leaving will relieve the strain on school places, NHS waiting times (I cant get a doctors appointment for a month), and jobs for school leavers. I am not a right wing leaning racist which most liberals tend to tar leave voters as, I've never voted conservative, I'm against any form of racism, I just believe in British hard working people and a controlled immigration policy that will bring in skilled workers from around the world, not unskilled lowering the job prospects for young people. We are a strong and brave nation and I'm sure we have the courage to do the right thing and vote to leave the sinking ship which is the EU. COYB

Martin587 - I don't feel a loss of identity. We voted in agreement with a ratio of 6:1 when votes were taken amongst the 27 other countries and passed thousands of laws of our own in our own country. None of the 'red tape' will disappear unless we never trade with an EU country ever again. Nothing will change - except we will be a lot poorer. If George Soros says we'll be a lot poorer - you need to listen. It won't be the rich who suffer - they will have 'hedged' against the £ falling already. It'll be muggins me and you.

I shall be voting with every party political leader, the PM, The Bank of England, The trade unions, The IMF, every major charity,The NUS, almost every FTSE leader, the National Farmer's Union, the World Bank & Obama. I shall not be siding with the self-serving Boris, that facsist Gove, Farage, Trump, Murdoch or Joey Essex. REMAIN

If your all happy being told by struggling countries with massive debts and us bailing them out then that's your perogotiv.Being told what we can and cann't do by Brussels and Five invisible Eurocrats who nobody has ever heard of is totally wrong.NOBODY knows either way how things will turn out,it's all guess work,BUT one things for sure,we will never get another chance for our own Independence.
Ipswichbusiness added 12:39 - Jun 22
A vote for leave is a vote for freedom and self-determination. We can trade perfectly happily with Europe without being part of the EU (just as we trade with the USA without being a member of NAFTA). Those who say look what the EU has done for us forget that it has done it with our money; every year we pay in £10 billion more than we get out.

To further HarryS H point above, if we are unable to bring in as many foreign players due to additional regulation/paperwork etc, would this not encourage English teams to invest more in English players? Just an out loud thought but given it's a football forum thought I would give it a go. :)

Ipswichbusiness if the leave campaign had any weight behind it, it wouldn't need to bandy about headline grabbing figures to scare the ignorant. 0.4% of GDP to be an integral part of the world's second largest economy? I'm in.

SBB!I think your wrong,If you read the 1998 treaty laid down by the then countries in the EU you will see I'm correct. And It won't be long before we are giving even more bail out money to prop up Italy And Spain. You really need to look to the future and not have your head stuck in a goldfish bowl. But then if your happy handing out Hundreds of millions each month to just disappear into thin air then so be it.Your very easily pleased.
Ipswichbusiness added 15:38 - Jun 22
SouperJim; £10 billion is a robust number, not seriously disputed. The U.K. Is the world's fifth biggest economy on its own. We can still trade with the EU; all we need to do is negotiate a free trade deal with them which should be very easy given that we run a huge deficit on "visible" trade. (The Germans will still want to sell us cars, the French to sell us wine, etc). Remember that the single market has little application to the services in which we excel.

Many intelligent posts again ... !!! Why am I not surprised ? No time for the 'outers' to be smug - if the result is 'out' should we all wait and see what happens to jobs, value of the £, etc; etc; etc; before being so clever. The sting in the behind may just be extremely PAINFUL - for ALL. Let's see shall we ???
