Fraser: Town Loan Added to My Game
Tuesday, 23rd Aug 2016 10:56

Former Blues loanee Ryan Fraser says he added to his game during his year at Town. The 22-year-old AFC Bournemouth wideman made 15 starts and six sub appearances, scoring six times, in an injury-hit spell at Portman Road.

Fraser made his Premier League debut for the Cherries on Sunday as they lost 1-0 at West Ham.

"It was massive," the Scotland U21 international told BBC Radio Solent. "I've spent years trying to get to this point in my career and hopefully there's more to come at this level."

Fraser’s spell with the Blues was interrupted first by a knee injury in September, which kept him out of action until January, and was then ended by a hamstring problem suffered at QPR in February.

"The recovery was hard," he added. "I was supposed to be out for just four weeks following the second injury, but it ended up being five months.

"I pushed things a bit too soon as I wanted to play more games. But it was a different side of football compared to Bournemouth.

"It was nitty-gritty and I picked up different bits that helped my game. I've seen changes and the gaffer's seen changes too."

Town boss Mick McCarthy revealed earlier in the summer that he had enquired whether Fraser might be available for loan during 2016/17 but was told Bournemouth had no plans to send him out for a further spell.

We could definitely do with a player of Frasers talent this season, him and Ward would be a force to be reckoned with in this league!

Apparently Ryan Fraser took up plane spotting at Ipswich due to looking into the sky with a ball at 38000 feet. The only unfortunate thing was Ipswich wouldn't buy him decent binoculars and a geeky notebook and paper. According to Fraser, chambers and Berra got hi. Into this due to the quality of balls that were being played to him. Also he would've been considered for the Olympics. This is due to this distance he had to run without the ball at pace. By heari g various sources mo farah was worried, then he realised that mo ran with more purpose.

Well, it certainly is "a different side of football" at the Town these days. Such a pity we didn't get all out of Fraser that we would have if he hadn't been injured. I wish him well. Looked ok against Wet Spam, but didn't really dominate.

Sorry guys just trying to have a bit of fun. Apparently it wasn't not his hamstring he done. He got a bad neck. This was due to looking up all the time looking for the ball!!

Think we would have seen a bit more of him had Mick taken him off earlier in the game where he was crocked right at the end;especially as he had been taken off in the previous game with a niggle I seem to recall?

I do believe we would have made the play-offs if was fit all of last season.

Wow, what a player he was here, made a huge impact for such a short spell. One of the reasons I kept going to watch last season. Just think if we would have had him the year before when we made the play-offs, he would have been the difference.

In years gone by Town would have cherry-picked him off Bournemouth (see what I did there, Lightening Boy?)
