Town Confirm Williams Back for Fourth Spell
Wednesday, 31st Aug 2016 15:47

Town have confirmed that Crystal Palace's Jonny Williams has rejoined the club on a season-long loan, his fourth stint at Portman Road.

Williams, 22, initially joined the Blues in February 2014 and became a big fans' favourite during the remainder of that season.

The Pembury-born midfielder, who is contracted to Palace until 2018, returned in the following September but had his spell curtailed by a thigh injury suffered in the Watford game in the November.

He came back to Town for a third spell late in that season but made only two sub appearances before suffering a recurrence of the problem in an U21s game.

Williams, who played for Wales at the European Championships in the summer, spent time on loan at Nottingham Forest and with the MK Dons last season.

He suffered an ankle injury in pre-season but is expected to be fit to play in October.

Lets face it, best can be a very good signing
I wouldn't be to depressed if we didn't get another striker in but I would like 1

Pitman - underrated
Sears - out of form but can be turned round
McGold - ouch
Best - strong, quick and tall. Teams won't be able to defend a high line with his pace like They could with Murphy.

Nice little nod to the FA Cup era town with that t-shirt, class.

Not sure how I feel about this. Skillful player but lightweight and very injury prone and as he is out until the end of October that means someone can make a name for themselves for those two months just to be dropped at the end of that period as I dare say there is a clause that says he has to play a certain percentage of games.

Why are we still expecting a striker everyone has been moaning about Sears being played out of position lets give him a run up top , with Pitman and Best think that is ok until Dids is back

There's no doubting his ability, watch the Wales - Slovakia match from the Euros, he was outstanding, still dives a bit but gets kicked quite a lot!

So delighted to have Johnny back, he's such an exciting player who can create something out of nothing. Let's try and sign him permanently at the end !!

He's signed now because we can't sign anyone after today, loan or pterwise til Jan so it's a case of do we want to wait for 6 to 7 weeks or til Jan when maybr he'll already be elsewhere.

Not just a question of staying fit, but more importantly avoiding the "cloggers" in this league. Too many unskilled defenders who are capable of putting a skilled player out for weeks - and get away with it.

Pesonally I think 3 million for Murphy after he gave us 7 good years and had the most prolific season we has ever had and probably will have is cracking business. It looks even better now and with 1 or 2 more faces will look stonking.

Welcome back Johnny, agree he seems to have aged in that pic!

Given his history of injuries I would not be in a rush to make a permanent signing, let's see out this season and take it from there.
