Town Linked With Loan Move for Fulham Striker
Wednesday, 28th Dec 2016 16:01

Town are reportedly keen to sign Fulham striker Cauley Woodrow on a six-month loan.

According to The Sun, former England U17, U20 and U21 international Woodrow is top of the Blues’ January wish-list and will available on a short-term deal.

The 22-year-old is out of favour at Craven Cottage with his last appearance having come in the EFL Cup defeat to Bristol City in September, while he has made only one Championship start this season.

The 6ft ½in tall striker played youth football with Spurs, Buckhurst Hill and Luton - with whom he made his first three senior appearances as a sub in the FA Trophy - before joining the then-Premier League Whites in March 2011 for a fee which was set to hit seven figures after top-ups.

Having spent time out on loan with Southend in League Two, where he made 10 starts and 12 sub appearances, scoring four times, Hemel Hempstead-born Woodrow made his Premier League debut for Fulham in a 3-1 defeat at Cardiff in March 2014.

Woodrow, who is contracted to Fulham until June 2018 with the club having an option for a further season, has made 28 starts and 37 sub appearances for the Whites, scoring 12 goals.

A striker to replace Daryl Murphy, who departed for Newcastle towards the end of the summer transfer window, is the Blues' top priority during January.

Meanwhile, Portsmouth sources have confirmed that the deal which saw Adam Webster join the Blues from Pompey in the summer included a clause which will see the League Two club receive 20 per cent of the Blues' profit if the centre-half is sold.

Webster, who was signed for a fee of £700,000 plus Matt Clarke, has been linked with a number of Premier League sides in recent weeks, including Sunderland and Everton, but Town are unlikely to sell during the January window.

Kikapu, are an armchair critic if so you would understand just why so many supporters are fed up.Ok,we have not got a transfer fund,so the owner says, but the only way out of this mess is to buy a few decent players in key positions don't you think, and of course get rid of MM.!!

Manager, assistant manager +fifty percent of first team squad are just turning up to get their overblown pay packets for providing not one ounce of apology to supporters who probably earn about 10 percent a year that they do.dedication to the job and a bit of pride wouldn't go amiss.

I understand completely, Martin587 but there is no point hoping and praying. Money counts and we don't have enough of it. Got to live within our means.
Parachute payments have increased making it even harder to gain promotion.
I noticed that Milne was hinting that it might be better if The Championship created a 2nd Premier League and cut the lower leagues free. Keep all the TV money. Perhaps that's the way to go for us cash-strapped teams.
What's the point of bringing another manager in? He'll be given the same budget.
Martin, stop being an amateur. Do some thinking.

As some people are requesting Nugent one thing is guaranteed his goal scoring record at PR will stop playing this managers hoofball any decent player has to be crazy coming here while this man is here end off.Any amount of money wont change a thing in that mans head please go there is managers getting the sack for much less. Our club hasnt got the balls because it will cost money but it will cost a lot more in league 1.

Kikapu, thanks for calling me an amateur,a bit uncalled for, don't you think, after all this is a forum not a courtroom.we are all entitled to our views.Of course I understand the money situation,BUT we are not going to get very far with hand me downs that other clubs don't want
,are we.
From your comments it sounds as though you never go to a match and are just happy to pick holes in other posts.I suggest you go to a match and just perhaps you might see how genuine supporters feel at the moment.Happy new Year.!!

Why don't we cash in on Jonathan Douglas ? seeing as the man is 'different class' we are probably fending off the advances from Premiership clubs on a daily basis, on top of which he regularly keeps Bishop, Bru, Dozzell and Jonny Williams out of the team.

What shall we start the bidding at ?

If we want to improve the team, just get rid of the dinosaur. Seriously this will improve the abilty of the current squad without MM on their backs.

What next an ageing centre forward to add experience to the team? Where's Lee Chapman and Adam Proudfoot when you need them!

Oh Ipswich please stop it, your spoiling us now, transfer window after transfer window all these big names you try to get, another loanee who can't make a difference at their existing championship club. Remember when we went down the route of prem reserves at the time and got Fraser. He was a game changer. Just spend some money and buy and get someone to entertain the fans. Even if you could get Jimmy Carr or Dara o Brien as a half time act I'd be happy. Failing that if you sign no one yet again you can stick your season ticket along with all the others that already have.

Time to face facts, owner has always been clueless no one will buy the current level of debt off of him so we are stuck with him

Current one trick pony manager cannot/will not play anything other than defensive approach but every other manager has now worked out his one trick

Murph somehow managed one good season in spite of everything, but without him we are not even one dimensional

Now is the time /season to blood the new generation but overrated 'experienced' favourites remain 'a different class' and seemingly undroppable

Evans/Milne/McCarthy appear not to know the definition of insanity .....doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results

In short we're in for a long painful few months, I just hope there are 3 teams worse than us come the season's end

Kikapu - I assume you know that a large portion of the so called 'debt' only exists on paper and the full value, which was acquired for a fraction by Evans, is owed almost in it's entirety to the owner? That is to say, Evans originally paid off the debt for a lot lower than it's worth and has subsequently left the full value on the books. He has charged interest on the loan (although not recently) and as has been confirmed, offsets the 'loses' against his other business for tax purposes. Please don't be sucked in by the 'accounts' or the excuses. Evans could invest if he wanted. He doesn't.
