Town Linked With Loan Move for Fulham Striker
Wednesday, 28th Dec 2016 16:01

Town are reportedly keen to sign Fulham striker Cauley Woodrow on a six-month loan.

According to The Sun, former England U17, U20 and U21 international Woodrow is top of the Blues’ January wish-list and will available on a short-term deal.

The 22-year-old is out of favour at Craven Cottage with his last appearance having come in the EFL Cup defeat to Bristol City in September, while he has made only one Championship start this season.

The 6ft ½in tall striker played youth football with Spurs, Buckhurst Hill and Luton - with whom he made his first three senior appearances as a sub in the FA Trophy - before joining the then-Premier League Whites in March 2011 for a fee which was set to hit seven figures after top-ups.

Having spent time out on loan with Southend in League Two, where he made 10 starts and 12 sub appearances, scoring four times, Hemel Hempstead-born Woodrow made his Premier League debut for Fulham in a 3-1 defeat at Cardiff in March 2014.

Woodrow, who is contracted to Fulham until June 2018 with the club having an option for a further season, has made 28 starts and 37 sub appearances for the Whites, scoring 12 goals.

A striker to replace Daryl Murphy, who departed for Newcastle towards the end of the summer transfer window, is the Blues' top priority during January.

Meanwhile, Portsmouth sources have confirmed that the deal which saw Adam Webster join the Blues from Pompey in the summer included a clause which will see the League Two club receive 20 per cent of the Blues' profit if the centre-half is sold.

Webster, who was signed for a fee of £700,000 plus Matt Clarke, has been linked with a number of Premier League sides in recent weeks, including Sunderland and Everton, but Town are unlikely to sell during the January window.

Not good enough for Fulham but a great bench warmer at Ipswich. If this is the best we can get then just give up and get relegated. Club is a train wreck from top to bottom utter dross with no ambition to be better. It's now getting embarssing.

No disrespect to the lad but if hes not in Fulham squad why are we willing to take him?How about spending some money on a striker who can find the net;Billy Sharp(who took an instant liking to Town a few seasons back after the trauma of personal loss and the way he was greeted) or Akinde at Barnet who ripped our defence to pieces in pre season friendly.Failing that what about Wickham/Rhodes helping us out for a few months?!!

I would rather see them get the Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic .Play`s passing game on the grass.

Let's hope this isn't true. Another loan - when the club talked about developing a team at the recent AGM - would send completely the wrong message and show yet more lack of ambition. We need better than this in any event. We should be bringing in permanent players who will be with us and part of the team for years to come. Fee signings expected.

Loans and have been frees would be unacceptable in this transfer window. Evans needs to buck up.

When you sign loans and bosmans as a long term strategy the quality of the playing squad steadily deteriorates, this is what is happening to us. Aoart from the odd success mings sears webster mcgoldrick we have ended up with an ever growing number of Div 1 players, chambers, douglas, coke best to name but a few with a few prospects for the future thrown intio the mix Bishop Dozell Kenlock emmanuel
When you reach a point where the majority of players are below the standard required for the league you are in you start to slide.
Guess where ITFC are in that process

Mick Mac Paddy Whack is now clutching at straws :( Did anyone else read Terry Hunt's 'open letter' to Mr Evans today? I'm hoping this is the beginning of the end for Mick.

It is a RUMOUR. Let's moan if / when it happens. Otherwise it signifies nothing.

First, Fulham thrash us 2-0 on our own pitch, then we take one of their reserves on loan.

Wonderful; not

I feel no encouragement or excitement reading about players who may or may not sign for us. The reality is that with McCarthy in charge we could sign top class players & still we would play boring, defensive uninspiring football.

Please leave McCarthy!!

R.I.P Ipswich Town once a club to be proud of that put the fear of god into English and European opponents alike, and players of a high calibre wanted to play for us, now our once great club has reached the stage where we have a solid clique of(favourites) under performing clowns(all one mans fault isn't it Mick!!??) who come on here and spout the usual abject drivel after yet another abject performance(Bristol city again Skuse your turn this week although if you play like you did at Ashton Gate don't bother) about how they will turn it around!! there is not a player who would want to come here and that is the saddest comment I can make about the club I have supported and loved for 58 years this all being down to one man who is still the manager(I use the term lightly!!) of a club that he continues to blindly kill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I said let's give Leon Best a chance when he signed and he's done jackshiz - I was wrong. I always like to give people a chance before writing them off...

I think it is only a rumour but also it could mean Evans is not going to give MM money to waste, as he will be leaving sonn.

Maybe wishful thinking! But i need to hold on to some kind of hope, we all do!

1. We have to stop loaning players that are either too old, too injury prone or can't get into an average Championship team.
2. If we had a new manager who would allow our current forwards the chance to express themselves in their correct positions, whilst signing two of three quality creative midfielders we wouldn't need to sign another striker.
3. Keep playing loan players in our team whilst they regain fitness & form on behalf of another club is of no use to us, look at Chris Wood, he was crap for us, but we got him up to speed for Leicester to sell to Leeds, now he's on fire.....

What have we become?.... Answer: A worn out, tired old club, that can't attract any quality, a manager who is way past his sell by date, an owner who is clueless, who is scared to make bold decisions for the good of the club.

Please don't let MM still be here and in charge of coming and goings in January. He has lost the confidence of supporters and players judging by the performances this season. He's got to go before January transfer window opens. That will give new manager a chance to steer us away from relegation. The problems have not just arisen, these have been steadily taking place over the last 2 years! He won't walk, he'll have to be sacked and that is the problem.

You've seen the published accounts (MM has no money). The club has done its annual investment this year (Webster - over the summer) but were undone when Murphy left suddenly.
You've read MM saying he isn't (can't) going to spend this Jan.
Put yourself in MM's shoes, with the budget he's been given. Midfield isn't good enough (worst passing accuracy in the league) of course he wants to get the ball upfront as soon as possible.
Rock and hard place comes to mind. Supporters want a passing game but none of our midfield players can. MM has managed that weakness well by passing the ball over their heads directly to Murphy.
A Murphy replacement will do for now.

StowTractorBoy I don't think Lawerence or Ward would class themselves as wingers. Lawerence is a forward or attacking midfielder. Ward is a midfielder who can play on the right a bit like Bishop and Dozzell.
