Thursday, 2nd Feb 2017 17:20

Town received €290,087 (£249,735) from UEFA as part of the revenue share from Euro 2016 for releasing players for their national teams.

Daryl Murphy was the only then-current Blues player to feature at the finals in France last summer, the striker, now with Newcastle, playing two games for the Republic of Ireland, while Christophe Berra played for Scotland during the qualification stage.

Overall, 641 clubs from 54 European national associations shared €150 million (£127.74 million) in revenue from the tournament.

Gforce added 17:58 - Feb 2
Great we could buy three more non league players with it !

Mark added 18:53 - Feb 2
Sounds good news, but I expect most of our Championship rivals got more than we did.

He's already bought his tickets for next Olympics then!!!!

So the club gets £249K for releasing Murphy and a further £3.3 mill selling him a month later. Remind me, what did we get in return....

Sad, sad times when you look at the likes of Sheffield Weds and whom they are buying. A club who WE were competing against week in week at the top..

Don't forget the sales money from Brown and Ford, which equates to a further 850-950K.The club seems to have given up on this season and thinks it's got enough to stave off relegation (a very risky strategy).

Does it matter? We'll never see it.

Gforce at the current rate we are paying, we could have 25 non league players. Go for it Mick ,you obviously think quantity is better than quality !!!

Moan moan moan moan. God it's infuriating!!! Our wonderful club our treasured club... The one we were all so proud of champions 62, at Wembley 78, in Europe in 81, these days are gone my friends. Those really were the days! Please stop moaning about it. If you don't like the tripe served up on a Saturday anymore don't go! If you can't understand that rich men get richer accept it!
It is what it is. Unless someone on here has 200million going spare to buy ONCE wonderful club, who I remember handing debuts to exciting talents and coaching them to play football, then stop moaning.

People forget that we lose 6million on natural operating losses which has to be funded by someone..... namely the owner. So all this means is losses are 250k less than that now!!!! There is no divine right for the money, same as with player sales for the money to go back in. If we were turning in a fat profit and Evans was pocketing it that would be 1 thing but it isnt.
I don't like it but it is reality!!!
