Skuse a Doubt for Villa Trip But Injury Not Serious
Monday, 6th Feb 2017 16:54

Midfielder Cole Skuse is a doubt ahead of Saturday’s trip to Aston Villa due to the injury he suffered during the first half of Saturday’s 2-2 home draw with Reading, but a scan has shown that the 30-year-old’s problem is not serious.

“Skusey has a heavily bruised lower calf and achilles,” Town physio Matt Byard told the club site.

“It depends on how it settles down over the next couple of days as to whether he has a chance of making the Villa game.”

No disrespect to Skuse, who has been an excellent servant to the club, but our performance level increased when he went off on Saturday. He wasn't missed at all. In fact we looked better without Skuse and Douglas.

Yes I agree jas viagra from leeds ( I can't spell his name but he stiffens up the midfield lol ) soon settled into that role although not match fit yet but with ward and huw we looked pretty tasty for once in that department.

Personally would prefer it if he didn't play (as long as he's not replaced with Douglas) & the midfield is same we played most of the game with.

Like it hogster1970, about Viagra stiffening up the midfield lol !!!

No need to rush him back,in view of display on Saturday, and the fact he didn't seem to be missed.

I know that previously MM has never dropped him,and brought him straight back in if fit;but this could be the opportunity to make him fight for his place instead of being an automatic shoo in !

Good sorry but we played a lot better once he went off

It took four months for MM to drop Douglas, cannot see him leaving Skuse out, especially as next two are away. But it does now mean we have a plan B is required.

"Skuse a Doubt for Villa Trip But Injury Not Serious"

Is it deemed not serious because of how we played solidly as a midfield unit after he went off on Saturday, or on a more personal level?

For all the Skuse debate on here, a couple of games without him will answer the question of his value to the team. Personally I think he is more important away from home than at PR.

We are better as a side without him(hope his injury is not a bad one I don't like to see any player injured) he is so negative in everything he does(apart from his worldy against Cardiff) he gets a bobble from an opposition player(not from hi own strength) and then plays the back four into trouble again and again this has always been what he brings to the table and sorry he's just not good enough(as Saturday proved when he went off and we were more offensive as a unit) it beggars belief the number of games he's played, but then he's a favourite of Micks so will be back in the side to the detriment of those that performed so well v Reading.

Happy to wave him off in a big taxi with Berra, Dino and Douglas. Saturday showed how much better on the eye we are without him.

Happy to see him on the bench as a replacement for Mr D if necessary until he is match fit enough to last 90 minutes but no way should be starting after Saturdays performance. Home or away we should attack and get at the opposition. That's the one thing they won't be expecting from Town under McCarthy.

interesting people forget how he got injured - a fantastic tackle that once again got us out of the mire.. the first goal at least came from a gap where he may well have been covering. I really like the two new guys and along side skuse I think that's a great midfield. Ward im afraid is too hit and miss.

there's no doubting Cole is a popular player with fans however his game is limited and doesn't bring out the positive attributes of the midfield/attacking players around him. I can remember last season Kevin Foley playing the deeper role in midfield (albeit he was played out of position) in Cole's absence against forest - his ability to win the ball and distribute it up the pitch made the world of difference to the team. Players seemed willing to make runs as they had confidence the ball would get to them; this in turn made space for others. I got the same feeling on Saturday after Cole was replaced, however will it last?

Been a great servant for the club isn't the same player he was when first joined. Works hard and yes great tackler but to slow and has no forward thinking pass, the team is to 1 dimensional when he players. I thought when he went of saturday we look a lot better the new loan players where getting the ball forward, also Ward look good and is quick, agree he blows hot & cold but is young will get better. Yes Mick loves Skuse maybe if he had fight for his place he might improve. I would say he needs to move in the summer with Mick Hopefully.

As I previously posted i would never wish an injury to Skuse or any player but he should not of been in the starting 11 for many months now. A long overdue rest needed for Skusey who has been a great servant but i truly believe he and Douglas have had their day and can't be carried anymore. I do however wish Skusey a quick recovery.

The negative with skuse for me is the lack of goals, even playing the holding midfield role you would expect a better return, a noticeable weakness of ours for a few years now, (exception Lawence). Time will tell though......

Obviously do not like to see anyone out with injury. However in this case it becomes a great opportunity, if MM is willing to take it, to have another look at the midfield combination that did so well after Cole went off. I have been crying out for an injection of strength in that area for ages and regarded it as the key priority area in the January window. Was very encouraged by performance of Toumani D and Huws. For our strikers to be effective they need service, although one might say in the case of Tom Lawrence he serves himself .......... coyb

I thought we played well with or without him and I agree with bluelady that he does the messy things alot of people don't see I agree with his backwards passing but that's down to having no one finding space to pass to but with the new boys in there they have the drive to get on the ball and play out I feel that if Skuse would have still been on the pitch certainly their second wouldn't have got that far to be hit at goal and one of the reasons I love Taylor is his commitment 110% and the way he tried to put any part of his body to block the shot a fully fit Taylor would have got there quicker and took one for the team COYB

KiwiBlue2 Do you not see any place for Kenlock in the eighteen?

Edmundo added 14:24 - Feb 7
Great in a defence minded team. Not so good if attack is a priority. Hmm, wonder whether MM willput him straight back in?!

Tessah - yes to Kenlock but did not realise he was fit again.
