Webster Hoping to Return This Season
Wednesday, 8th Mar 2017 14:42

Central defender Adam Webster says he’s hoping to return to action before the end of the season as he continues his recovery from the ankle ligament injury he suffered in January which required surgery.

“The boot has come off now and I can start doing strengthening work and looking to get back to full fitness from here,” the summer signing from Portsmouth told the matchday programme for last night’s game against Wolves.

“The first couple of weeks I had to stay at home, I was in a cast and couldn’t get around. That was the hardest time.

"The last two weeks I have been in the gym every day and doing Pilates as well and that has definitely helped. You feel like you are making progress.

“Hopefully I will be back in full training two or three weeks before the end of the season. That’s if everything goes according to plan.

"I’d like to get a chance to play if possible, I’d love that, but it will be down to my recovery and the manager, of course.”

Speaking about Webster’s possible return before the end of the season last week, manager Mick McCarthy said he won’t be taking any risks with the 22-year-old.

“Unless he’s absolutely 100 per cent fit he won’t be involved at all and we’ll take the six or eight weeks they have off and make sure he’s ready for pre-season so we’re starting with a fit Adam Webster,” he said.

Should be OK for a 0-0, can always bring on Skuse for an attacking threat

@BLUEBEAT - Almost identical to the one the Beeb always used to use of Sam Parkin when he was with us...

great news just hope MM puts him in central midfield where he can use his attacking instincts and passing. Ideal to replace Skuse!

Nowhere near as bad as the expression on the fans faces watching Parkin!!!!

Good news, as Webster is a key asset to us being a mobile young defender who can pass the ball. We missed that yesterday with a back-three of Smith-Berra-Chambers (or should that be back five guarded by two defensive midfielders?!).

Good news, but as the season was over in February, there is no point risking him.

Maybe still time for him to make a further impression abs secure a bid from the premier league. ME then gets to cash in and we can ask start asking where the transfer fee has gone.....wages obviously.

No. Stay out the way Adam and give us next season alongside Tommy and whoever else is still here.

How many think Bart will still be here next season. Without him and Lawrence we would be definitely relegated. I'm sure there are plenty of Premier Clubs eyeing Bart up lets hope he stays.

Hope he comes back stronger and stays fit. Can't have another young player here that can't stay off the treatment table and be able to fulfill their potential. (Hyam, Williams, Bishop)

NoCanariesAllowed - talking of Sam Parkin, I was reminded of him the other night whilst watching the aerial threat posed by our new young striker Kieffer. It seems they both have similar heading abilities.
