Town have announced a ticket promotion at the Newcastle match on Monday 17th April, which has been designated Sir Bobby Robson Day in honour of the clubs’ legendary former manager.

Season ticket holders will be able to purchase up to four additional tickets at £10 for adults, £8 for concessions and £3 for under-16s from Friday.

Tickets can be purchased at the promotion rate online via ITFC Direct or in person at Planet Blue up until 1.30pm on matchday.

Sir Bobby will be turning in his grave at the shambles his once great club has become.

Very generous, I can buy a cheap ticket for that match but have to pay an estimated 19% extra for my season ticket next year and much the same for the year after, I say estimate because the club have not bothered to publish the price for people in my position (I'm 62) or bothered to contact me. Needless to say I will not be renewing (after 52 years of watching Town) at the moment thinking about stopping my final payment on this years ticket and not bothering watching the last four games.

A cynical marketing ploy using the memory of the great Sir Bobby to entice fans back solely because it is evident that Newcastle will bring thousands down and make it like their home fixture. The club really cannot stoop any lower.

Typical Evans and co. Bobby Robson ...MM is not fit to be mentioned in the same breath .

I suppose that when the Geordie's chant "You're only here for the Newcastle" It will for once be true!!

Why should season ticket holders act ticket agents for this ticket spiv after being shafted on ticket renewals for next season. What a nerve but then season ticket holders have always been treated in this abysmal way.

This is pointless, at any one weekend in my office there are at least 5 season tickets that people can't even give away for free

Shocking, but let's show out solidarity for our club, and contempt for the current regime. Massive walk out at 81 minutes? Leave the Geordies to their promotion party and embarrass the current lot (players, MM, TC and Milne and ME all deserve it).

I know it's far from rosey at Portman Road but this is a pretty decent offer on a bank holiday Monday for people who for what ever reason can't afford full whack. Let's hope given the opposition and cheap tickets we get the place rocking. I will certainly play my part and see which friends want a ticket.

Edmundo why punish fans for 81 minutes, wave good bye halftime then protest OUTSIDE the ground till end of match around statue of Sir Bobby .

The new prices aren't outrageous, it's the lack of investment in quality players that is.

The switch to prices for 60-65 year olds is incompetent, the way it's been done. You can see why they want to do it, but haven't they the savvy to work out some transition arrangements for existing season ticket holders? They could have (a) kept the same low price for 60-64 year olds renewing, and/or (b) had a discounted rate for everyone coming up to 60 but the abrupt price hike seems deliberately designed to p*ss off the supporters. Crass.

Cynical exploitation of course, but we deserve nothing better as we supporters have not acted strongly enough to defend our Club in recent times. Cannot gripe when Evans sees one last payday in the Championship.

This is the end game when one of the most passionate, loyal and proud fan bases runs into a ruthless, calculating and soulless business man of an owner. Most supporters cannot imagine what it must be like owning ITFC and not really giving a ****.

He made a bet by buying the club, has been hedging his losses for past 2 years via big Mick (making MM complicit), and is he probably now trying to lay it off, whilst we get what we deserve for allowing it to happen.

Sir Bobby would not be sad, he simply would not recognise the Club. Now that truly is the saddest thing.

PS: I still have a couple of years of my 20 year season ticket left and never once used it to see Premier League football, worse still my 12 year old has NEVER seen us in the top flight though we would both settle for watching something that vaguely resembled football. Imagine that !

Whilst the club is hardly covering itself in glory at present with clobbering the over 60 but under 65 age group, it is reasonable to celebrate and commemorate a great man with special ticket offers. If the club had not done so there would be even more moaning on here.

The incompetence of this Club knows no bounds. If only they knew how many Season Ticket holders have been alienated by paying full price only for others to get in for ten pounds and sit in a better seat. I can give you the seat numbers of four former Season Ticket holders who did not renew five years ago because if these ten pound offer when they has paid full price. Their seats are still vacant. I've mentioned this before, but Bobby's image above the Club shop has green mould on it. Even if it is cleaned, as soon as everyone's back is turned, it will be disregarded by the Club again. The Club has no idea how much they have alienated the fans, not least Season Ticket holders.

With Newcastle in town v Ipswich and that price promotion should of equate to 25k but given sorry state of affairs it will be 19k at best. Mr Robson I apologise in advance of our performance.

I think this is a good move, and we might as well have done the same for the crucial Birmingham and Wigan games to try to get an atmosphere to help us stay in the division. Unfortunately I have as yet been able to sell my tickets as people say they do not even want to pay £10 to watch McCarthy's Ipswich side. That is a sad state of affairs.

One of the last games I went to was against Newcastle back in 2009, which was another of these Bobby Robson memorial games.

They spanked us 4-0 that day and I fully expect a similar result this time.

Fatboy added 19:34 - Mar 21
The next two home matches (Birmingham and Wigan) will determine whether we get sucked into a relegation battle. Any ticket promotion to increase the crowd size should be for those games. I don't really see the point in encouraging more fans to come along to a game that, in all likelihood, we're going to lose.

Given our position we could need all the support we can get. Trouble is the toxic atmosphere at PR at mo is not going to be something to help the team

woohoo added 20:50 - Mar 21
It will be very sad if the Robson family attend and witness a half-empty PR and thrashing by Newcastle.

But we know who will be responsible if both of these occur.

As one of the lucky 800 I will not be taking advantage of this ridiculous promotion. Promotion, now that's a word that no longer applies to PR. No disrespect to Sir BR whatsoever.

I have been supporting ITFC since a 3-0 win against Wolves in 1977 (40 years), due to living Lincolnshire I do not have a season ticket but still get to 8-10 games a season. A round trip including ticket in the BR stand will cost me £65-00.

Not surprisingly I no-longer know any season ticket holders - no reward for long term loyalty (approx. 600 home games) my ticket will cost me £32-50....

Aha!!! The much anticipated proverbial 'Carrot Dangling' I see... and a damage-controlling one at that! Bvdrr!

Sorry, but personally I'm not falling for any more 'Snake Oil' promotions or semi-shenanigans from Marvelous Marcus's ITFC!

Rather you, Mr. Evans, should heed the message ... and premonition! ... contained in the lastet super duper :-) composed meme of mine (where just in case someone doesn't grasp it and/or me correctly, aye I i did indeed borrow the opening line from no other source than the Book of Genesis?! LOL despite the fact that I unmistakably happens to be an atheist! LOL)
