Town Unveil New Away Kit Wednesday, 31st May 2017 06:00
Town have revealed their away kit for the 2017/18 season, a red shirt with black shorts, as previously reported by TWTD, while the away keeper’s strip is all black.
The Blues have worn red and black as a second or third kit on a number of occasions over the years stretching back to the Sir Bobby Robson era, most recently in the 2013/14 season.
Red is a good shirt colour. I remember standing on the terraces counting the Liverpool players to make sure there was only 10 outfield players. It always seemed that there were more red shirts than blue ones.
I'd mocked these up before last season's kits were unveiled... not far off for next season, as it happens... although with a bit of black on the red shirt, I think this would've been ok with black shorts - it wouldn't even have needed much...
There is a bit of history to this kit as we had a Fisons one around the early 90's Wark and Kiwomya era that was similar. Can't imagine this will be looked back on with the same fondness though.
I like it, it's a bit generic but it has a strong Adidas feel. I prefer the keeper shirt design but the shirt is well designed to go with jeans - which would look somewhat better than the matching striped shorts which are ok, but I question if it's a design that will be remember for generations - that only really happens when there's something memorable on the pitch is associated with the design...
At the end of the day no one will care too much what they wear home or away as long as the standard of football improves and we are challenging for atop six place.
Pure commercialism. What happened to changing home kit and away kit in alternate seasons? I also seem to recall us fans (sorry, I spelt feckers incorrectly) being asked to vote on new shirt designs.
