Samuel Linked With Blackburn Move
Monday, 10th Jul 2017 15:23
Former Blues loanee Dominic Samuel is reportedly set to join Tony Mowbray at Blackburn Rovers from Reading having previously played for the ex-Town skipper on loan at Coventry City.
According to The Sun, the League One side have offered the Royals £500,000 for the 23-year-old striker, out-bidding the Blues and Barnsley.
Town boss Mick McCarthy was understood to have been impressed enough with Samuel during his loan spell at the end of last season - in which he made two starts and four sub appearances without scoring having recovered from a broken toe suffered soon after signing in January - to want to bring him back to Portman Road on a permanent basis.
However, speaking on Saturday, McCarthy said no move was in progress to sign the former England U19 international: “At this moment in time, nothing’s happening with that.”
Meanwhile, another ex-Blues loanee, Tom Lawrence, is reported to be a £7 million target of Derby County.
The 23-year-old Leicester man is said to be viewed as a replacement for Tom Ince, who joined Huddersfield last week.

Him and Tunnicliffe, two that I am not massively concerned if we do not get (although knowing our luck will come back to bite us in the ass)

No thanks , 500k is a lot for him , we could spend our money better elsewhere , same goes for Tunnicliffe , neither of them did enough here last time

We now have Garner, we therefore no longer have any need for Samuel.

Tall Target man/Striker please.
yungblue added 16:37 - Jul 10
He's awful, useless work rate, cut from the same cloth as Leon Best, we do need a big target man but with already having 4 good strikers until Pitman leaves we have to be looking at the wide areas. From MM words looks like we'll be back to 4-4-2 this season. With Celina, Rowe and Ward, although I like Celina and Rowe, neither have played a full season in the championship and won't make it through 46+, would sign Michael Kighktly on a free tomorrow.

Blackburn are welcome to him..wouldn't take him on a free nevermind paying 500k.
Sears,McGoldrick,Garner AND Pitman are decent enough - we still need someone else though..Samuel is definitely not that person.

Didn't impress. Didn't look interested. Average player. Must be better out there.
Lawrence would be a good signing for Derby. Clearly we can't compete with that type of fee BUT we certainly need to spend more on some quality additions.

Coookycrew you are spot on. This is aguably the biggest signing we still need to make.

500k seems steep to me, happy if he goes Blackburn as we will then need to look elsewhere.

Darren Bent would do for me, proved goalscorer just what we need, never mind his age he still knows where the back of the net is.
howdonblue added 19:06 - Jul 10
I know we will probably get downthumbed for this but
33 or not he would do us great for a couple of seasons !
And as you said knows where the net is 15-20 goals nailed on .
But I think wages will be the reason why we don't get him unless he takes a pay cut .
Here's hoping but can't see it myself unfortunately

Darren Bent isn't coming here - he will follow the money and that does not lead to PR!

Raggett from Lincoln worth a shout

He really is rubbish so pleased to see someone else get him : even if he will be playing under a new manager by October.

Not disappointed about this at all. Squad is shaping up quite well. Think our starting line up for 4-4-2 is likely to be:
Spence Webster Chambers Kenlock
Celina Huws Ward Rowe
Subs: Gerken, Smith, Knudsen, Dozzel, Scuse, Sears, Pitman
and for 3-5-2
Webster Chambers Smith
Spence Ward Huws Dozzel Celina

not Impressed with him to date.

I don't think we should be relying on getting much out of mcgoldrick as past history tells us that we might get 15-20 games so I think we should keep pitman but start with sears and garner in games as these 2 will not give opposition defenders a minutes rest opening up a lot of chances for our improving midfielders to get a lot of goals between them, we might not have a 20 goal a season striker but I see us scoring a lot of goals this season through the midfield keeping hold of Bart is more priority than bringing in anymore players for the squad

Whoops kingy should have had him beside Huws in the middle....
tempzzzz added 13:02 - Jul 11
kiwiblue2, as if you think micks not gonna play skuse. he's a proper bloke, he'll be a guaranteed starter every game regardless of form
BlueSmith94 added 13:25 - Jul 11
Not to fussed tbh, we have McGoldrick, Sears, Garner, Pitamn (heard he might be sold) and Morris coming through the ranks. We dont need any more strikers! Add another few wingers and we are ready i think!
