Webster Returns as U23s Face Forest
Tuesday, 19th Sep 2017 11:41

Central defender Adam Webster returns to action after recovering from his ankle injury this evening as the U23s take on Nottingham Forest at Alfreton Town’s Impact Arena (KO 7pm).

The 22-year-old suffered the injury in the Carabao Cup tie at Luton, his only start so far this season.

Also involved against Forest will be midfielders Tristan Nydam and Danny Rowe, as well as Australian striker Ben Folami, who has already scored four U23s goals this season.

Gerard Nash’s team have won four of their first five games this season, including the last three. They are third in the Professional Development League Two South and will go top if they win this evening.

Speaking on Friday, manager Mick McCarthy said he was pleased that the youngsters had continued the good form they showed during the Carabao Cup tie at Crystal Palace.

Webster fit and on form could be vital for our season. Unfortunately, we can't expect him to be fit for Leeds!

Is there a video of Adam Webster's 40, 50? yard run at St James' Park last season, same game where the fan videoed Jonathan Douglas that went viral. Sheer quality, if Webster's run had been videoed, that video should have gone viral instead of Douglas'.

Good to see Webster making a full recovery. Its also great to see the U23's doing so well. It bodes well for the future provided they can break into the first team.

We are now developing aome strengrh in depth. Even more ilmpressive when you realise players like mcdonnell and emmanuel are out on loan. Young Folami could be an exceptional striker in the making.

it would put a completely different complexion on the team if Webster was turning out week in week out
Look what a difference a fit David McG has made
If he had have been fit and playing every week since he joined us, I rather fancy he would be turning out for someone like Southampton or Bournemouth by now, however.
Let's hope we can keep him for at least a couple of seasons ....fit!

Great news. Hopefully after a couple of games with the under 23s he will be fit enough to play with the big boys.

We will have more than enough players at the back especially as they seem to be able to interchange positions.

We still have Smith to come back too so Mick will have a problem on his hands soon chosing who is going to play!

Adds a bit of class to the team, which it sadly lacks at times.

A fit Didsy and hopefully Celina,if our 'bloody minded' Manager decides to play him;together with Webster, should make an entertaining team.

Surprised we have not seen much of Danny Rowe,as he hasn't looked too bad, what little I have seen of him.Funny how Mick has signed loads of widemen in the 5 years he's been here;but none of them have come off, apart from Ryan Fraser, who unfortunately wasn't our player.

Really hope Adam has a change of luck and can stay injury free as he looks a real class act and could form a really good partnership with Chambers.

Osbourne, even if Hyam is 100% fit he won't budge Skuse or Adeyemi. Downes is a better option too in my opinion.
