Nydam in England U19s Squad
Thursday, 28th Sep 2017 11:13

Blues midfielder Tristan Nydam has been named in the England U19s squad for friendlies against the Czech Republic and Slovakia next month.

The Young Lions play the Czech Republic at SC Znojmo on Friday 6th October, then Slovakia at NTC Senec three days later.

The matches are preparation for November's first round of European Championships qualifying in Bulgaria, where the England youngsters will face the hosts, the Faroe Islands and Iceland.

Nydam, 17, won his first U19s cap in the 7-1 defeat of Poland earlier this month, having previously made one England appearance at U18 level.

Flynn Downes also made his U19s debut during August’s fixtures but is sidelined until after the international break with a thigh injury.

Another Blues midfielder, Andre Dozzell, broke into the U19s in the summer, helping them to carry off the European Championships trophy, and is also likely to have been in the squad but for the season-ending cruciate ligament injury he suffered on the opening day.

England U19s: Ellery Balcombe (Brentford), Ryan Schofield (Huddersfield Town), Trevoh Chalobah (Chelsea), Morgan Feeney (Everton), Reece James (Chelsea), Dujon Sterling (Chelsea), Japhet Tanganga (Tottenham Hotspur), Jake Turner (Bolton Wanderers), Josh Tymon (Stoke City), Dennis Adeniran (Everton), Sadou Diallo (Manchester City), Elliot Embleton (Sunderland), Mason Mount (Vitesse Arnhem, loan from Chelsea), Tristan Nydam (Ipswich Town), Ryan Sessegnon (Fulham), Joe Willock (Arsenal), Ben Brereton (Nottingham Forest), George Hirst (Sheffield Wednesday), Daniel Kemp (West Ham United), Jonathan Leko (Bristol City, loan from West Bromwich Albion), Reiss Nelson (Arsenal), Edward Nketiah (Arsenal).

Great. His development continues. Hopefully will be a top class player (for us!) in a few years' time.

The Academy conveyor is cranking out future internationals again. Well done Tristan, Brian Klug and the ITFC Academy. We could yet see a 1st team with over half Academy players: Tommy Smith, Emmanuel, Kenlock, Downes, Nydam, Dozzell, Bishop, Hyam all in contention next season hopefully.

More reasons to be cheerful. Well done TN.
And somebody needs to have a word with the people who work out the stats for Fifa 18. Nydam was just 58 yesterday and Teddy Bishop was 67! And Białkowski was just 70. Wakey Wakey Electronic Arts!!!!
“There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and Fifa 18 statistics!”
