Sunday, 22nd Apr 2018 20:23

On-loan Blues right-back Josh Emmanuel has been named Rotherham’s Young Player of the Year.

The 20-year-old, who has spent the season with the Millers who secured a place in the League One play-offs via a 2-0 home victory over Bristol Rovers yesterday, has made 32 starts and one sub appearance while at the New York Stadium.

My son & I have followed this young man with keen interest for some time : understand he really looked the part against Gillingham. This loanee has developed in the manner MM& TC had hoped and anticipated and shown the sort of character we must hope will lead him into a good career ,perhaps back with us ?

Well done Josh. Has evidently shown a good attitude to earn such an award.
Cannot understand why our past management team never gave him a run in the team.
Josh was certainly on a par and probably better than the likes of Iorfa and Spencer.

Well done Josh!! It's a shame that he wasn't given the chance here in the last 2 years haven't had a proper right back in the last 6 years!!

I'm not surprised. The loan has done him the world of good, yet for me he is better than Spence and without doubt Iorfa.

Yep well done fella...a few eyebrows were raised when Mick put him out on a season long loan, maybe this proves Mick might not have been right to do so...

Mick has done s huge amount for this Club and has certainly left us in s far better state than the one he inherited. The main reason it went pear shaped for him at PR was the boring style of football. That aside , Mick was / IS a top bloke!

Does this not show Mick was right to loan him out? He would not have had anywhere near as many appearances if he had been here this season. Boades well for us next season.

should have been here and in our team ahead of iorfa!

That's fantastic news. Well done josh. I do like the lad, good prospect, good attitude and apparently has a lovely manner about him

So he goes out on loan, gets lots of experience at a lower level, does well and this proves Mick wrong? There are some really dumb people on here. What has happened is exactly what MM hoped would happen and will have helped Emmanuel's career way more than playing a season in the poisonous atmosphere created by the same dumb people at Portman Road. Rotherham have paid us to make him a better player

Great news. We desperately need an improvement in that area with Spence having been inconsistent and I-awful being just that. Hopefully Emmanuel will be back in Town blue next year.

This is about Emmanuel not Muck. Because someone has a different opinion Monkey Boy doesn't make them dumb. Emmanuel never looked out of place in our first team and maybe he would have been good enough for the Championship over the last season. Just a thought.

Oh, and of course Rotherham paid us to make him a better player. Great argument until you factor in; Emmanuel improved Rotherham ‘s team. We paid Wolves for the same pleasure except that Iorfa weakened our team and was a poorer player than Emmanuel

Glad to hear this, hadn't been following his progress at Rotherham particularly closely so this is welcome news. For all the promise he'd shown, he didn't look quite ready for a full season in the Championship at the start of the season (easy to forget he was still only 19 when we loaned him out). Looks like a season playing regularly in League 1 has done him the power of good, shrewd move by MM and congrats to Josh for making the most of the opportunity.

Iorfa has generally been average at best, you can see why Wolves put him out on loan to us - not good enough for a side who had sights on the Premiership. As said Emmanuel should have been here...

Why on earth did we let him go? He could have had a season in the championship. Another Mick shambles. He did not get a chance with Chambers there.

Great news. Looked a really good prospect before his loan and sounds even better now. Really hope he proves himself with us next year in partnership with Kenlock.

Who cares whether Mick was right or wrong to loan him. All that matters is the future.

Maybe going forward we can accept that it is actually possible to develop young players within the Club rather than assume the only way is to send them on loan. When he was with us he always looked the part but was never given a run of games. Can't peak for Sir Alf's days, but am pretty sure in Sir Bobby's day and George Burley's he would have at least had a chance to prove himself in the first team before being sent out on loan.

Well done Josh and come back soon and be OUR player of the year next season.
