Bialkowski Players' Player of the Year Tuesday, 1st May 2018 23:54 Town keeper Bartosz Bialkowski was named the Blues’ Players’ Player of the Year at this evening’s End of Season Dinner at Milsoms Kesgrave Hall. The 30-year-old Poland international previously won the Players’ Player of the Year in 2016 with Tom Lawrence the squad’s pick last year. Bialkowski was named the Supporters Club’s Player of the Year for the third season running at the recent Player Awards Evening, when he also picked up the Ultimate Supporters Award (formerly the Away Match Passport Holders Award) for the second year in a row. He also added the Corporate Customers, Sponsors and Box Holders' Player of the Season award to his mantelpiece this evening, again for the third year running. The winner of this year's John Kerridge Memorial Trophy, the coaches’ choice award rather than the manager’s this year, was 15-goal top scorer Martyn Waghorn.
Midfielder Flynn Downes was announced as the Young Player of the Year at the Players’ Awards event, academy manager Lee O’Neill having selected the England U19 international who has been on loan at Luton during the second half of the season. Bersant Celina’s superb strike in the 1-0 home victory over Leeds United was named the Goal of the season.
Guests of honour at this evening’s dinner were several members of the squad which won the FA Cup in 1978 with Sunday the 40th anniversary of the final.
