Ward Returns for Suspended Edun
Tuesday, 21st Aug 2018 19:07

Grant Ward returns to the Blues starting line-up for the suspended Tayo Edun in an otherwise unchanged side facing Derby County at Pride Park (Sky Sports Football, red button/iFollow, KO 7.45pm).

Ward will take up Edun’s role on the left of the midfield with the rest of the team lining up as they did for Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Aston Villa. The on-loan Fulham man misses one game following his red card on Saturday.

For Derby, Martyn Waghorn drops to the bench alongside Jack Marriott, while former loanee Tom Lawrence starts, as does Town nemesis David Nugent looking to add to his 15 goals in 16 games against the Blues.

Derby: Carson, Forsyth, Bryson, Tomori, Keogh (c), Mount, Lawrence, Evans, Bennett, Nugent, Bogle. Subs: Roos, Wisdom, Waghorn, Jozefzoon, Marriott, Lowe, Ledley.

Town: Bialkowski, Donacien, Nsiala, Chambers (c), Knudsen, Chalobah, Skuse, Ward, Nolan, Edwards, Harrison. Subs: Gerken, Jackson, Spence, Roberts, Sears, Downes. Kenlock. Referee: Scott Duncan (Northumberland).

Lets hope Ward gets stuck in for 90 minutes then. For me he's just not done it and my patience has run out.

Hope Downes gets some game time I think he could be good player for us this year. Scorewise I'm going for. 3-1 Win to us, be good for Harrison to get a goal tonight.

Looking to win the game tonight. Need to get that first win under our belts. Bpderby are decent, but no need to fear them. Play with passion and belief. Good luck Town.

Hmmm
Subs bench feels a little bit light, and I hope the new boys at the back keep that pest Nugent at Bay!
Then Kayden can bang in a couple off the bench.
Ipswich for the win!

Agree! Ward is a pretty average player, started his career off well here what I remember and put a few goals in but since then...I know we have a good record at Pride Park but would take a point tonight.

Have to agree Cloddy, on his debut we could see a player with real talent and desire and we just haven't seen that since or only in glimpses.....

Listening to commentary on Bet 365, sounds a poor game and with one up front doesn't seem like we will score many goals.

Pass. Pass. Pass......I've seen us play 7 passes in a row at one point. Excellent. Love it. Didn't even know Chambers could pass a football.......looks a different player. Lovely.

Derby confidence was shot but sounds like a poor performance and we will not get many goals with one up front.

passing will not keep us in this league you can pass the ball 20 times but if there is nothing up front or a person who can finush the passing then we will end up in tge third tier of english football. so far this season we have not tested any defence at all no end product this must change and change sooner rather than later worst start in many years for us cant keep using excuse that we are building as time will run out and we will be in a fight we cant afford to be involved in
