Dyche: We'll See Where Interest in Walters Goes
Wednesday, 29th Aug 2018 23:09

Burnley boss Sean Dyche has confirmed that Blues loan target Jon Walters could move out on loan before Friday’s 5pm loan deadline and says the Clarets have received interest in the 34-year-old from a couple of clubs. Earlier this afternoon, TWTD revealed that Town were in talks regarding their former skipper returning to Portman Road.

"We're not stretched in literal numbers, but we are overloaded in certain areas,” Dyche told the Burnley Express.

"We looked at the balance, how could we readdress that? Gibbo [Ben Gibson] coming in helped with that, we were operating with three main centre halves and have a nice balance now with left and right.

"Wide players we're still short in, especially with Robbie [Brady] and Johann [Berg Gudmundsson] down.

"We were hoping to balance the squad out in the summer, and that has affected some situations, with us still open to loans.

"There's talk of Jon [Walters]. A couple of clubs have been in contact, so we'll see where that goes.”

Walters didn’t join his team-mates for training on Wednesday in preparation for Thursday's Europa League tie against Olympiakos and the proposed move to Portman Road could well make progress towards its conclusion tomorrow.

Walters joined Burnley from Stoke for £3 million a year ago but the Birkenhead-born frontman has made only two starts - one in the Carabao Cup and one in the Europa League - and four sub appearances for the Clarets.

It would be great to correct the ridiculous saga that Roy K. created and that drive him out of here.

This would be such a good loanee, as much for his 'old head' as his footballing skills

A couple of clubs interested in him!! Oh well that's the end of that then! Some other club will pay more than what we will and of he goes elsewhere!!

Mattwin no different to if you were looking at selling something on... someone rings, “got a few people interested that want to come and look” is I typical response even if there's no interest.
Typical response from a “seller” and a TWTD poster unfortunately. :/

Itfchorry - have you forgotten what mess we were in when ME took over? He saved us at that point and has been pumping millions in since! What do you propose then if he were to leave?

Did Walters leave because he didn't like being down south? I'm sure it was him that said that.

RIPbobby, lets be honest we have all told an old girlfriend anything to get away at the time!

The club need to get this deal done. JW would bring. real buzz to the place and be very welcome back.

I'm sure that Walters didn't like being down South, but I think that had more to do with a certain Irishman who was down South. I'd almost welcome Keane back as he'd make it easier to get on the property ladder when he brings down house prices, then again...

Burnley pay £3m for him and he hasn't started a single league game - most strange. I think this would be a good loan for us bearing in mind his vast experience.

Sounds like Dyche isn't desperate to send him out and why would he be? We'll only pay a fraction of his wages, which is irrelevant to Burnley so no doubt he's prefer to keep him in case of injuries.

I'm sure if we did get him that some of the regular numptys on here will complain about his lack of Championship experience over the last 7/8 years.

A better prospect than Jerome, and would give the place a buzz. Remember when a certain John Wark came back?

I think this would be a perfect signing for us still has goals in him especially at this level and would definitely give the younger strikers like Harrison, Morris and Jackson some great experience working with him. Hes scored goals at what ever level hes played in and an international whats not to like about this!?
