Walters at Town to Complete Move
Thursday, 30th Aug 2018 14:22

TWTD understands former skipper Jon Walters has arrived at Town to undergo a medical and complete the formalities on his loan move from Burnley. Yesterday, TWTD revealed that the 34-year-old was set to make a shock return to Portman Road.

Earlier this morning, Walters posted on social media that he was en route to Ipswich, having progressed as far as Newmarket on the A14.

The deal, which is a loan running until January, seems likely to be completed later today well ahead of tomorrow’s 5pm deadline and the Republic of Ireland striker looks set to go straight into the squad for Sunday’s East Anglian derby against Norwich City.

Walters has been on the winning side in an East Anglian derby, the 2-1 home win in April 2008 but missed the 3-2 victory a year later, the last time the Blues beat their greatest rivals.

At some point,the penny will drop and i'll understand the strategy.Until then,please leave me in the corner with a pint to contemplate because at the moment,either it's the beer or my aging brain that has me lost.MM leaves the nucleus of a good team.The youth are about to enter the fray.A couple of good signings and happy days.No,we throw the baby out with the bath water and then go back to loans and freebies to save the day.

Tractorboybig is obviously part of the McCarthy in brigade, Hurst has made decent signings but people expect results straight away, this season was always going to be about rebuilding, we have a young squad and if we add walters and mcauley along with chambers and bart some good experince to guide them through, wish people would back the team rather then slate them at the first opportunity

I am pleased we have got an experienced striker, but whether it'll be the same as before, we will have to wait and see. Whose going to follow McCauley in, Butcher, Wark - I think we need to leave retired ex players alone

Great news!

Fantastic to have another 'older head' to help guide some of the younger players.

We just need him to score on Sunday now!

@geminimustang

Tend to agree..happy to see Walters back (if it happens) but mainly because we are desperately short of firepower.

Think it's going to be a very strained international break (on here) if we don't pick up a win on Sunday.
