Evans Rewards Regular Away Fans With Free Hospitality
Thursday, 7th Feb 2019 19:10

Blues owner Marcus Evans has written to regular home and away supporters offering them hospitality at one of Town’s remaining games at Portman Road this season.

The letter, instigated by Evans himself, has gone out to a couple of hundred season ticket holders who have also attended more than half of the away matches so far this season.

The fans have been invited, along with a friend, for hospitality usually costing three figures, which will include a pre-match meal in one of the suites and VIP seats at the Stoke, Reading, Birmingham or Swansea game.

He's owed a debt he'll never get back. As Evans said there isn't a queue of potential buyers queueing up theA12 so stop f***ing moaning and support the team.

No you see, that's the problem right there. Keep your head down, stay quiet, don't challenge things, let the owner get on with it...etc, that's what's led to the mess we're in now! Those that have sat back and quietly watched this unfold, including silencing a Facebook group calling for action against ME a couple of years ago, are actually complicit in our current crisis imo.

Whatever your personal views on Marcus Evans I think this is a very decent gesture. Paul Lambert not so very long ago personally paid for the travel of 50 away supporters. Ticket promotions have also upset some of our season ticket holders. What next? Perhaps medals for loyalty and long service?! I play golf, I pay for it as it's my chosen hobby. I don't expect the owners of the various (often struggling) clubs I play at to reward me for choosing their venue to persue my interest. No ITFC supporter is happy with our current plight but that's life as a football fan, take it or leave it!
On a seperate issue of finance at PR, the issue is not the lack of investment. Poor choice of management has been the problem. When money was provided it was wasted by the likes of Jewell and Keane, maybe even Burley to a degree. We almost made it under MM on a shoestring budget and love him or loath him, nobody can deny the good work he did with his given budget. If you'd like to look at success compared with nett spend take a look at our friends at Carrow Rd. Negative spend year after year yet top of the league through decent youth and shrewd signings. Hate to say it but in a season or two there could be many comparisons to be drawn between the two clubs. Despite their league position there was an article in the EDP recently bemoaning the cashing in of their assets over recent seasons.....football supporters will always be difficult to please I guess!

Jealousy is an ugly trait, I've been be many away games this season and to be honest am happy for those who received a letter, what a great gesture, and something for other loyal fans to look forward to, in what is turning out to be a rather demoralizing season.

Well done Mr Evans, and to those who received a letter, enjoy!

TR11BLU. Based on many Town supporters I know personally. Based on many Town supporters that I don't personally know, but speak to at games home and away every week. Based on what I personally believe after 40 plus years following the club. Is that good enough reasons for you?
And as stated...”in my opinion” Do you understand that bit??

“Opinion”. Maybe correct. Maybe not correct. Just in case your unsure. Guess the English language isn't your strong point Tr11 blu. Now you know the meaning of the word, why don't you offer one?

You can see why countries go to war.

You only have to read the bitterness on here and it is only a disagreeing about a POSITIVE gesture by the owner. What the hell would happen if it was something serious.

Lighten up everyone and lets focus on coming away from Carrot Road with a win.

Well, we first had the love/ loath MM "debate" on here, now it seems we've got the love/loath ME debate up and running! Seems us town fans are never happy till we've got a good old verbal fight going!

On another subject, the quote from Bill Shankly above, "Football isn't life or death, it's much more important than that". He may have been a great manager, but that was one idiotic quote. Try telling that to Emiliano Sala's family amongst countless others.

& for Season ticket holders who do attend some away day games but buy tickets separately ZERO!!!
Still going to be kicked out of their seats in the Cobbold Stand when the fancy takes him.
Pitiful gesture!
