Town Among Clubs Linked With Bolton Defender
Sunday, 9th Jun 2019 10:35

Town are reported to be among a number of clubs eyeing Bolton Wanderers defender Harry Brockbank.

According to The Sun, Sunderland are keen on the 20-year-old, who can play at right-back, central defender or in central midfield, but Championship Brentford, who have previously been linked, and Town are said to head the chase.

Bolton-born Brockbank came through the youth system at his hometown club before spending time on loan with Salford City earlier this year during which time he made one Vanarama National League appearance as a sub.

Following his return to Wanderers he was given three starts in the final weeks of the season as Bolton dropped into League One along with the Blues.

Brockbank is available on a free transfer due to in-administration Bolton’s ongoing financial problems.

His three first-team games are understood to have triggered an extension to his previous contract but Wanderers were unable to offer new terms before a set deadline, meaning he can now move on for free.

Meanwhile, Blues striker Aaron Drinan, who is currently on loan back with his old club Waterford, could win his fourth Irish U21s cap this afternoon when his side face Bahrain in their final group game aiming for a place in the semi-finals at the Maurice Revello Toulon Tournament.

Drinan, 20, has come on as a late sub in both the 4-1 victory over China and the 0-0 draw with Mexico.

Not read it yet, guessing he must be free. Evans investment sinks to new lows. Will we ever pay money for a player again? Could Evans invest any less? Minus 16m spend on players in last 5-6 years is why we are league one.

Is he any better than our youngsters?

Where is Norwood or any other half decent signing?

I'm beginning to get nervous, we know things will be tight at Town but I would have like to have seen more movement by now or am I being unreasonable?

We've delved pretty in intelligent communication on the news comments. "not read it yet..." then goes on to make a moronic assessment. Wow.

-16m on players, +50m to keep us solvent = +34m(ish) over the last 5 - 6 years. Not an insignificant sum in my opinion. Clubs are still on holidays, it's going to be slow for a little while.

Minus the tax saved by offsetting losses. Who knows what the final figure is?! Why is he still here?! Out of the goodness of his heart? Wow what a guy 😂🤣😂

I thought there was compensation if a player is under a certain age. I guess that doesn't apply if they're not offered terms. What a mess football is in. We should count ourselves fortunate.i remember when Clubs came in and cherry picked our best players when we were in administration

Am I in a minority here, or should I have expected some real movement in the transfer market by now ? Why are Lambert and Evans apparently on vacation right now ? Their first priority is to rebuild the squad. All we are getting is injury news and stuff about injury news (eg: to Alan Judge). I want action, not lethargy !! If we don't get some solid news soon about major rebuilding, I will start looking up the routes to Morecambe.

Chalky, I don't know your profession but whatever it is I'm sure it entitles you to a week or two of holiday now and again, Lambert and Evans are no different!

there will be a lot going on behind the scenes. deals offered, agreed in principle. Few get done before the end of June. Expect more to be announced in July once existing deals come to an end.
plus we probably only looking at four signings (+ a replacement for bart assuming he leaves).
Holy is signed. Looks like Norwood will be done this week. Plus another forward/target man (Keane) plus another defender, who could cover a couple of positions.

If you were Evans would you invest good money to satisfy the miserable bunch of fans on here?

You guys are so understanding. I think you guys (like bing toast) needs to stop supporting ITFC and start supporting MEs bank balance as you seem far more concerned about the later than the former!! 🤣

Bingboast - yes. Many fans have kept the faith with the club despite an abysmal last season. Arguably the two seasons before that, which were dull and negative. The season ticket sales were great and now Evans needs to be competitive at League One level.

Bluearmy81......no ones coming in to take over from ME. He's keeping the club afloat. We would all love to see millions spent on players and no one enjoyed being relegated, but get real. If you think some billionaire from Dubai is being denied access to the club...you are a goon.

Just because there is no transfer fee, doesn't mean to say that the player is free. There will be agent's fees, signing on fees, etc.

Anyone who thinks that we're going to go out and make big money signings will be disappointed. I would prefer us to rely on our youth, plus a couple of experienced players to make up in areas where we are short.

How much money is bluearmy81 ploughing in to keep the club running? And I dont mean a shirt at the start of the season and a half time pie. Get your cheque book out sunshine!

Rob I'm not the owner!! I didn't buy the club then under invest and see it rot!! As a fan I have every right to criticise regardless of whether I can afford to buy the club! What tosh!! Why are you defending him? Will you still believe in him and be defending him in 5 years if we are still league 1-2? Genuine question.

@bluearmy, this lot will clap the club down at least another division or two before they even start to nervously ask their saviour any kind of 'awkward' questions! 🤣
