Blue Signs for Blues Women
Monday, 10th Jun 2019 16:35

Ipswich Town FC Women have signed England U17 international midfielder Blue Wilson from Manchester City.

Blue, 17, spent one season at the Etihad having joined City from the Essex Regional Talent Centre, where she was coached by her new Town boss Joe Sheehan.

A key member of City’s U21s academy side, although never featuring for their senior team, she has trained with the likes of England skipper Steph Houghton, Nikita Parris and Jill Scott.

Blue, who was part of the Lionesses squad for their Women’s U17 European Championship qualifying campaign but missed the tournament due to injury, has also won England caps at U15 and U16 levels, during which time she wore the captain’s armband.

She has previously played alongside fellow Tractor Girls youngsters Eloise King and Paige Peake at international level.

What are the chances this piece would have been written if her name hadn't been Blue?

Will be more this season. Something we feel we've rather neglected up to now.

Good move to include Ipswich women more on TWTD. Welcome Blue, hope you can help our women's team improve their profile and get both our teams out of Div 1 in the right direction!

Well said Phil and I look forward to the extended coverage.

I am now off to see the Lionnesses roar in France and can not wait-----will actually be hugely enjoyable unlike watching the men.

Agree, good to see coverage of the ladies’ team on here. Viewing figures for the recent England v Scotland match demonstrated how the profile of women’s football has risen steadily, and is rightly taken seriously by supporters and media alike.

The fact that we’ve got a women’s team linked closely with ITFC, and able to attract quality players, can only be positive and benefit all.
