The EFL Trophy will be known as the Leasing.com Trophy for the next two seasons under a new sponsorship deal.

Leasing.com, who specialise in comparing car leasing offers, replace Checkatrade as the tournament’s sponsor.

Town will take on Tottenham’s U21s in their first ever game in the competition, which was won by former Blue Brett Pitman's Portsmouth last season, at Portman Road on Tuesday 3rd September (KO 7.45pm).

The Blues also face Gillingham, who will be in Suffolk on Tuesday 8th October (KO 7.45pm), and Colchester at the JobServe Community Stadium on Tuesday 12th November (KO 7.30pm).

EFL chief commercial officer, Ben Wright, said: “The EFL is delighted to welcome Leasing.com to our portfolio of partners at the League ahead of the start of what we all hope is another successful and memorable EFL Trophy campaign.

“With the revised format now firmly established, this competition continues to go from strength to strength and the EFL is looking forward to working with the Leasing.com team as we plot this season’s journey to Wembley and move on to the next chapter of the EFL Trophy’s history."

Mark added 17:49 - Aug 5 Can this awful competition get any lower? I will not be watching ITFC first team playing an U21 side and I will boycott the competition. I say that as someone who has hardly missed a home match in 25 years.

Mark added 18:35 - Aug 5 JaySwitch - I think the boycott should stand the whole competition, but if ITFC go to Wembley it would be hard to stay at home. I am totally against U21 teams being in the competition as it could lead to U21 teams joining the league. Football has to be about more than Premier League clubs.
