Town Ball 21 in Tonight's FA Cup Draw Monday, 21st Oct 2019 09:44 Town are ball number 21 in the draw for the first round of the FA Cup which takes place this evening.
The draw will take place from 7pm live on BBC2 at the home of Maldon & Tiptree and will be carried out by Karen Carney, a winner of the Women’s FA Cup on five occasions, and ex-Leeds striker Jermaine Beckford.
The 32 non-league sides still in the competition go into the hat along with 47 teams from Leagues One and Two.
Due to Bury’s expulsion, one side - the last remaining in the hat - will be given a bye through to round two but will receive the £36,000 prize money which goes to all round one winners. Ties will be played over the weekend of Saturday 9th November.
The Blues will be playing at the first round stage of the competition they won in 1978 for the first time since the 1956/57 campaign when they defeated Hastings United 4-0 at Portman Road.
Town last won an FA Cup tie back in January 2010 when they beat Blackpool 2-1 in the third round at Bloomfield Road during Roy Keane’s time in charge.
Since then they have played 14 matches in the competition, four draws and 10 defeats.
Last season they were beaten 1-0 by Sunday’s opponents Accrington Stanley at the Crown Ground.

Bye would be good. Failing that, I'd take any one of the following: - Maldon & Tiptree - weird, alternative local derby! - Scunthorpe (at home) - to get revenge on Hurst - Accrington Stanley - to right the wrongs of Sunday - Chippenham Town - "The Mings Testimonial" | | |
