Town Top League One Dirtiest Team Table
Thursday, 30th Jul 2020 14:44

Town have been ranked top of a list of League One’s dirtiest teams based on yellow and red cards received during 2019/20.

The Blues’ 74 bookings and four red cards in 36 matches give them 340 points in a disciplinary table in the Peterborough Telegraph.

Flynn Downes was shown the most yellow cards, 12, with Gwion Edwards receiving 10 and Luke Woolfenden nine.

The four Blues players sent off were James Wilson, Armando Dobra, skipper Luke Chambers and Kayden Jackson.

Portsmouth (76 yellow cards and two red) were ranked second on 324, Sunderland (74, three) third on 316, Accrington Stanley (62, six) fourth on 314 and Shrewsbury (71, three) fifth on 314.

League One’s cleanest side were Rochdale, whose players were booked 48 times and sent off on two occasions resulting in 214 points.

This is less about us and more testament to other teams abilities to fall over, scream and clutch a body part.

Tells me we are not fit enough, organised enough and lack communication. Everything is panic and leads to yellow and red cards.

My thoughts exactly since67. Suggests a team struggling. Without addition we will not achieve next season either. Town fans will be fine with that though, at least we exist!! Could be worse could be Bury... 🤣😂 Or wolves, Leicester, Bournemouth, Leeds, Brentford, Burnley (we were on par with them all over the last 10 years...)

Is it just a coincidence that Portsmouth and Sunderland were second and third?
Three 'big' clubs taking the top the spots.
Seems to reflect more on the standard and mentality of refereeing at this level, rather than anything else!

They've had open top bus parades for less up the A140.

Can't blame Evans for this but dare say some will. Too many players lacked personal discipline at times but the standard of referring was shocking at times which didn't help. A rubbish league with a physical approach which undermines attempts to play decent football. Promotion next year is an absolute must do.

how many points did these bookings and sendings off cost us ?
enough to make the play offs i bet......playing clean maximizes your points , playing dirty gets you nowhere

I mentioned this in the New Year...when it came to stats a large percentage of the games we made more fouls than the opposition, and to think years ago we were known for playing passing and fair play - how times have changed!

We could have a competition for the most number of fanatical Evans out posts ? All bets off on that one !
