Town Complete Pre-Season Programme at Cambridge United Thursday, 27th Aug 2020 10:07 Town will complete their pre-season programme with a behind-closed-doors friendly at League Two Cambridge United on Saturday afternoon (KO 1pm).
The Blues were last at the Abbey Stadium in pre-season a year ago when the game ended 0-0 but with Flynn Downes receiving a late red card for a headbutt.
Unlike Town’s previous pre-season friendlies, the match is not being streamed live.

A confidence builder after 2 defeats Let's hope Downes can keep his head this time

let's rest Downes ;-) Tough working out pre season fixtures in the current climate. Ideally would have liked us to play more teams that play in the style of L1 - physical - to see how we get on. But all good fitness and SO glad to see same formation each game and emerging style of play. Personally I hope he sticks with the ones showing form - as he has said - so surely that would mean Nsiala or Ndaba alongside Woolfenden? KVY and Ward full backs, Downes, Bishop and one of Huws/Dozzell/Judge then Edwards, Drinan/Jackson, Lankester/Sears with El Mizouni on the bench (amongst others)

Why is there no streaming for this? Surely, any money coming into the clubs at the moment would be beneficial to them at this time? Cambridge must surely have a facility set up by now as they will need it for the season ahead!!

Jon it is at Cambridge so it is their decision not ours on the streaming.

You would hope that Lambert might try to start with his strongest XI. Still wondering where Norwood & Jackson are.

@Terry Nutkins...I did realise that! I meant that it would have been financially good for BOTH teams as they could have shared the revenue. With approx. 1300 watching last Tuesday afternoon it could have been a decent sum on a Saturday afternoon when more people can watch it!

Is the game being played at their training ground? Would explain why they'd be unable to stream it.

It would have been more beneficial for the whole squad to have gone to Colchester garrison and spent the day in the company of the Parras. A round of British bulldog and an assault course is probably better preparation for this league.

Good that there's been a broad range of levels to play against this time around for psf matches. Brings into play different skill sets and challenges, sharpening up and training. Much needed after a 5 months absence.

In other news, I see Posh have signed Clarke-Harris. How come they can and we can't or won't?

Ringwoodblue- think Peterborough paid a few million for him and is their highest paid player at the club so just couldn't afford him :( story of why we are in league one I suppose

Ringwoodblue. Theyve paid £1.25m for him and are about to get £10m for Toney. That's how.

Thanks blues1 as I had also wondered. Mind you if we can see Jackson, Sears, Norwood (when fit), Hawkins (when match fit) and Drinnan start to fire and get more regular goals from midfield then we should be ok. I would rather have seen money spent on a competent left-sided cb as we need to stem the flow of soft goals at the back. If we can do that then we should be ok .......
