Cotterill Reveals Shrews Striker Taken to Hospital
Saturday, 9th Oct 2021 18:52

Shrewsbury manager Steve Cotterill has revealed that striker Ryan Bowman was taken to hospital with heart palpitations following his substitution in the 34th minute of his side’s 2-1 defeat to Town at Portman Road.

Bowman’s heart-rate climbed as high as 250bpm and was taken to hospital by Town’s medical staff having left the field.

“The more worrying one will be Ryan Bowman,” Cotterill said afterwards. “Where he is with his health right now we don't quite now, he's at hospital now.

“He had a huge heart-rate problem, he has palpitations, I don't quite know what that's about. When I've finished with you guys [the media] I just hope everything is OK with Ryan.”

Wishing the poor bloke well, hope whatever it is he makes a swift full recovery.

In reference to the post about Celina and Covid, I believe he had pericarditis after contracting Covid, and nothing to do with the vaccine. I suspect there are some very rare instances of vaccines causing palpitations, but no doubt heart problems are much more of a short and long term issue of Covid than they are from any vaccine

Europablue, Celina's illness came from having covid, not the vaccine.

Get well soon Ryan. We'll be watching for your recovery with genuine interest and concern. This puts things into perspective and helps remind us that there are more important things in life than football.

We all saw what happened to CE in the Euros, so this is another warning around player health and vulnerability.

I wish Ryan a full and speedy recovery

It's hard to imagine a pulse rate of 250 bpm. Something seriously wrong there. I hope it's only temporary and that Ryan gets fully better soon.
