Former Canaries Boss Linked With Town
Thursday, 9th Dec 2021 23:48

Former Norwich City boss Alex Neil is reportedly keen on the management vacancy at Portman Road.

According to the Daily Record, Hibernian are keen for Neil to succeed Jack Ross, who was sacked earlier today, but Neil is more interested in a return to work in East Anglia, claiming that he is on the shortlist at Town.

Neil was in charge at Carrow Road between 2015 and 2017, taking the Canaries into the Premier League via the 2015 Championship play-off final, having beaten the Blues in the semis.

The 40-year-old was at Hamilton Academical prior to his time with Norwich, while he was subsequently in charge at Preston North End from 2017 until March of this year. Latterly he has been giving advice to his former Mansfield team-mate David Artell at Crewe Alexandra.

Given CEO Mark Ashton’s comments earlier in the week about the recruitment process, the Blues are unlikely to have reached the point of having a shortlist, while fans are unlikely to welcome another manager with connections to their local rivals.

Would far(ke) rather have a rather more recent Norwich boss. I simply don't care about any connections to them or anyone else, just want the right person for the job, finally, whoever that may be, as long as it's not one of the usual, been there, done that, about 20 years ago brigade. Younger blood and long term strategy in place, please!

Tufty - Would be great, but he's currently managing a team in the Champions League so not going to happen.

NO NO NO! I have a number of friends who are season ticket holders near the dug outs at Carrow Road and have been told he has the foulest mouth of any manager EVER. Would be quite happy to have Farke though despite the absolute slaughtering I would get!!

No thanks! On the other hand, Farke would be a very good manager - but that too might be a step too far for us.

If we're going to have connections with that lot let's at least have someone good enough to make it worthwhile!!

Not keen on one of Norwich FC's ‘sloppy seconds'.

I'd much rather Mogga or Lennon!! Then again he did do a good job at the scum & beat us in the playoffs, can't believe I've just mentioned that🤦‍♂️
Still would like McGreal to get us on a run & get the job👍

Bringing in personnel from Norwich will never work.I'm sure this is all speculation to throw the press off the scent.Once again hopefully exciting times to come.🤔

Farke for me although wouldn't go down well with the small minded people on here. Mowbray and Venus would be a good choice but would they leave Blackburn.
