Five Changes For Town at Morecambe
Saturday, 8th Oct 2022 14:16

Town boss Kieran McKenna has made five changes for this afternoon’s game away against bottom-of-the-table Morecambe.

Richard Keogh comes in for his first league start at the centre of the back three with Luke Woolfenden dropping out for only the second time in the league since McKenna took charge in December.

Wes Burns is also among the subs with Kyle Edwards handed his first league start of the season having scored twice in the 3-0 victory over Cambridge on Tuesday.

Lee Evans rejoins skipper Sam Morsy in the centre of midfield with Dom Ball absent from the 18.

Young midfielder Cameron Humphreys is on the bench for the first time in the league this season.

Tyreece John-Jules, who scored against Cambridge, is one of the number 10s with Kayden Jackson the lone central striker with Marcus Harness and Freddie Ladapo subs.

For Morecambe, who are without eight senior players, ex-Blues winger Dylan Connolly starts and former midfielder Shane McLoughlin is among only five subs.

Morecambe: Ripley, Love (c), Gibson, Rawson, Delaney, Fane, Stockton, Connolly, Bedeau, Shaw, Phillips. Subs: Smith, McLoughlin, Cooney, O’Connor, Mayor.

Town: Walton, Donacien, Keogh, Edmundson, Edwards, Evans, Morsy (c), Davis, Chaplin, John-Jules, Jackson. Subs: Hladky, Woolfenden, Vincent-Young, Humphreys, Burns, Harness, Ladapo. Referee: Thomas Kirk (Cheshire).

Good call to bring in Keogh for a rough afternoon Defending. Bit concerned over lack of cover for Central midfield on the bench.

Hopefully we'll be OK. Too many changes for me. Jackson best as a sub, likewise Edwards. Woolfy is our classiest defender. However in McK we trust

Woolfy has lacked a bit of concentration in a couple of recent games. He's my player of the season so far but I was wondering when he would be given a rest. 0-0 after an hour; Burns Harness and Ladapo off the bench: 6-0 Ipswich. Brilliant tactics KMcK

Jackson will win us our first penalty in what feels like years.

@SuffPunch. Humphreys is on the bench as CM cover. Can only assume Ball has picked up a knock. I would prefer Edwards in a more attacking role but I don't see him train so can't comment on his defensive abilities. On the flip side perhaps MCK thinks we'll be camped in their half?

Morecambe have named only 5 subs, things must be tough.
Don't think it will be quite as easy as some people think,no game ever is.Hopefully another 3 points on the way though.

No-one4, thank God you're not involved with team selection or anything to do with the club.
Ball is injured for a start. Tossers like you & Cressi we don't need.
