Burgess Back in Full Contact Training Thursday, 20th Oct 2022 14:44 Centre-half Cameron Burgess is back in full contact training following his facial injury, while manager Kieran McKenna reports no new injuries ahead of Friday night’s live Sky game against Derby at Portman Road. Burgess underwent surgery for the damage to his face suffered during the Bristol Rovers match and had been involved in training but unopposed until today. “Really good progress,” McKenna said. “He trained today with full contact, heading balls and blocking balls and back to being Cam Burgess. “That was a big boost for him and a big boost for us and we’ll look at when’s the right time for him to get some U21 minutes possibly, give him a little bit of exposure in the U21s at some point and get him back in with us as soon as soon as possible.” McKenna says everyone came through Tuesday’s 1-0 Papa Johns Trophy defeat at Cambridge fine: “Yep, no problems.” Striker Gassan Ahadme is set for a scan on his injured foot on Monday, which should give an indication of how long the Moroccan U23 international is likely to be out. Sone Aluko (knee) and Greg Leigh (compression fracture to his leg) also remain sidelined. Kyle Edwards will be available for Saturday’s game against the Rams as his suspension for his red card at Cambridge only takes effect in the Papa Johns Trophy.
