Blue Action Coach Greeting Ahead of Huddersfield
Wednesday, 1st May 2024 18:32

Town independent supporters group Blue Action are are staging another of their coach greetings ahead of Saturday’s vital home game against Huddersfield Town at Portman Road.

Blue Action similarly called on fans to gather ahead of the 6-0 hammering of Exeter which confirmed promotion from League One last May and the East Anglian derby with Norwich City earlier in this campaign.

Following last night’s brilliant 2-1 win at Coventry, the Blues need only a point from Saturday’s game against the effectively relegated Terriers to return to the Premier League after 22 years away.

Why all the negativity towards Blue Action? They have been a phenomenal force for good in terms of encouraging support and improving the atmosphere within the ground. The players and KM have repeatedly said that this is strong motivation for the team.

Of course we will be nervous on Saturday, but this show of support is just another step in the amazing journey we have all be on, with BlueAction being a key of this. They are not “silly little boys”, but rather keenly committed supporters who should be applauded.

No one is under estimating Huddersfield - in the ranking given their current league position they are the 43rd best team in the Country and have something about them. Remember how we struggled against Rotherham. I don't know of any fan who thinks success on Saturday is a given - certainly our Manager or the players won't. As my seat is in the SBR Stand I couldn't help but witness the previous two occasions this has happened and it attracted fans of all ages, disabled supporters etc. and was properly organised with barriers and stewards etc. and I have to say quite a spectacle - not the false support of uTubers that some have sadly suggested. But yes, if we don't do it, this will be unfairly blamed.

It’s tempting fate, a bad idea! And there are plenty of fans that think we only need to turn up on Saturday, I was listening to Suffolk radio this morning one even quoting a 5-0 thrashing I suggest listening to Suffolk radio!
Bottom line is the players should not need this as motivation, but it will surely motivate the Huddersfield players!

Really bad idea imo I’m sure the motives are noble but let’s keep the celebrations until after the final whistle

They are greeting the bus not celebrating promotion. Don’t know if any of you have seen them marching through the town before a game, but they proper ‘drum up’ the atmosphere and that’s exactly what we need. These lads are part of the match day experience so give them so credit.

An unnecessary distraction, I was embarrassed by the amount of rubbish/litter left behind after the last one, beer cans and flares. An army of litter pickers had to be sent in by the council. Grow up and celebrate after a victory.

Errr clues in the flyer “roar them on to the premier league”. No one’s saying it’s a given. What’s wrong with some of you? Best get rid of your packed lunches and thermos flasks, have a pint and a pie and create some atmosphere lol

I think many are mistaken about what this planed event actually is and means, it’s simply an opportunity to give our players a real lift and encouragement showing them the magnificent support that’s behind them to finish the job off Saturday. KM will have them all sharply focused and won’t be taking Huddersfield for granted. Let’s get behind the team and give them this very special moment like we did prior to Exeter at home last season.

The predictions of a thrashing is what will motivate the Huddersfield players, not the warm hearted welcome of the Ipswich team irrespective of the result or what might ensue. If Huddersfield players get to know about this I expect they will think of it as great support for the home side, nothing more. Those who criticise this don't seem to ever have witnssed it. Again, it is not an assumption of victory but a rallying call. To do this every home game would in the end become meaningless but against our arch rivals and defining matches where promotion is possible, why not. Regarding the litter, Blue Action actually had litter pickers. Why all the negativity? The players know what they have to do. They either will achieve it or not but honestly feel the two previous such occasions where this greeting occured have strengthened the feeling between the fans and the players and not effected the result either way.

On another note, surely the Huddersfield fans won't want Leeds going up ? Perhaps we can persuade them to cheer for us instead !!

Did not seem to do us too much harm last year. Or against Norwich when we clearly were the better team. Not a case of taking Huddersfield for granted but supporting the players and showing them how much we are behind them COYB

Did not seem to do us too much harm against Exeter or Norwich when we were clearly the better team. I don’t see this as being disrespectful to Huddersfield but just adding to the occasion and showing the players how much we are behind them in achieving all that we want.
Well done Blue Action looks like a lot on here would rather we sit in silence until the game is won like many do every match who sit by me !!

Didn't do any harm prior to the Exeter game, Players said before that game that it was a huge motivation for them.

Regardless of the motivation behind this to the world it stinks of celebration before promotion is clinched and us not in line with the quiet class with how we have gone about our season.
After the last one which I witnessed and the following disappointing result I was speaking to my Norwich colleagues and told them how embarrassed were they to celebrate a draw with such ferocity , their reply was not as embarrassing as you lot celebrating a victory before the game!
They had a point, I did feel really embarrassed!
Those who are in favour of this clearly don’t know what it’s like to live amongst the old enemy, if it goes wrong on Saturday I will never live this down !

SCRAP It !!!

If anyone from Blue Action has a brain then they will know this is a ridiculous and pathetic idea.

You say it is to show appreciation for the season, well we can all do that AFTER the game, and not before it when the players and management have a very important game to play.

Why on earth would you want to distract them from their jobs.
Let them go about their business, routines and preparations like any other game.

I am afraid if you do carry on with this 'coach welcome' its going to cause a lot of unnecessary pressure on the players and totally take them out of their usual routines and patterns for preparing for a game.

If any of you lot have any sense between you all, then for Christ sake cancel this stupid event ASAP.

Unfortunately a lot of the members of Blue Action only think about themselves, it's all about them and they can be an embarrassment.

They are not 'admired' by a lot of other supporters like they seem to think they are.

Great motivation for Huddersfield.

Just like when Lambert had the team holding hands at the end of every match.

Quite a few on here who do not understand the word support.

Perhaps there should be total silence until ITFC are 5 nil up

and god forbide running on the pitch to celebrate

Sorry but I don't agree with this at all.
In case anyone has forgotten there is still work to do!
All this should be done in the ground when the players come out etc.

It is pretty obvious that the vast majority think this is a stupid idea.

Instead of bringing fans together, blue action seems to be pulling fans apart and thinking it's all about them and what they want.

FFS let the players follow their normal match day routine.

OliveR16 added 08:31 - May 2
We are clearly not unanimous that this is a good idea. I am one who takes the view it adds unnecessary pressure and would only be appropriate if promotion was already secured. I think this is becoming a fairly thoughtless habit. For all the fuss it is a small proportion of the fanbase who seem to have a disproportionate sense of their importance.

trncbluearmy added 08:39 - May 2
The players can be as humble and respectful

Good support is loud, intimidating and in your faces, that is our job.

and don't think that comments on here are representive of the support in general

there will thousands cheering the team on who have no idea this discussion even happened

If this greeting can be viewed as a distraction or arrogance then maybe we should simply walk into the stadium, seat on our hands and make no noise at all. Bring no colour to the stadium and clap politely every ten minutes - don’t want to motivate Huddersfield.

It’s a greeting for crying out loud - not a celebration.
