Three Clubs Agree Philogene Terms With Hull - Report
Saturday, 6th Jul 2024 21:28

Town, Everton and Crystal Palace are all reported to have met Hull City’s requirements regarding the signing of winger Jaden Philogene with it now up to the player who he wants to join.

The Blues have made a £35 million joint-bid to the Tigers for Philogene, who they were keen on last summer, and centre-half Jacob Greaves but with the Toffees and Eagles also making approaches.

Now, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano is reporting that all three clubs are all prepared to meet Hull’s conditions for the Londoner’s signature. The player is expected to make a decision on his destination soon.

West Ham, the 22-year-old’s former club Aston Villa, Tottenham and Manchester United have also been linked with the former England U21 international.

La Liga giants Barca were believed to be eyeing the forward with a view to a loan switch but Philogene says he will be moving to the Premier League.

Philogene, who has two years left on his Hull contract with the club having an option for a further season, joined Villa’s academy from the Pro:Direct Academy and spent spells on loan with Stoke and Cardiff City prior to making his £5 million switch to the MKM Stadium a year ago.

If he wants to end up playing for Barcelona, he comes here.

This could go any way & strong pros & cons for each. Down to his personal goals & ambitions now. If he doesn't come then his head & heart isn't with us anyway. Guess we'll soon see what kind of priorities he has.
Could Greaves influence anything if he wants to come here too?

I suspect we’re not front runners, then.

Shame!

Our best hope is KMK talking to him.

Everton Dyche seems a no, but (I still think a smaller club than us) so much more established and good setup now

The latest news states that a deal for both players could be agreed as early as next week. I think coming to Ipswich they would be almost guaranteed of regular football.

If he’s good enough, he will come, if not move on to other targets.

According to Hull Live,he is keen to link up with Mckenna and a deal for both players is still very much on,although apparently for much higher than the 30 million previously mentioned.
Fingers crossed it's true.

Personally I’d give the chances as 10% Everton 60% Palace and 30% us. I think he would be seen as a start for palace and they also play good football with it being a London club also being a pull. If we miss out I’m sure we’ll have similar targets.

Regencyblue how’s it the player? How it works first is clubs agree fee etc with the club which can take a couple of days anyway and THEN they get to talk to the player after. 3 clubs have agreed its NOW it’s up to the player and understandably he’ll want to have a think as it’s 3 clubs in completely different areas of the country depends where he’d like to move to as well as everything else.

I dont think the "London" connection will be a factor in persuading him to go to Palace. First, by car or train we are not much more than an hour from London, second ALL professional footballers know that they might have to move several times and all around the country (and possibly Europe and beyond) , in their (relatively) short careers. Third, wherever he lives, just getting across London can take hours. Fourth, we've got McKenna and first-team football on the table. What's not to like?
