Town Among Clubs Linked With Belgian International Tuesday, 16th Jul 2024 21:08 Town and Nottingham Forest are reported to have joined Leicester City in showing interest in AC Milan’s Belgian international winger Alexis Saelemaekers.
The Foxes are believed to have made a bid close to the Rossoneri’s valuation for the 25-year-old, previously reported to be €12-15 million (£10-£12.6 million).
But according to Calciomercato.com, the Blues and Forest have also made enquiries regarding primarily right-sided Saelemaekers, who is surplus to requirements at the San Siro. West Ham United were previously linked.
Saelemaekers started his career with Anderlecht in his home country before moving to Milan in 2020 initially on loan before signing a permanent deal.
The 12-times-capped Belgium international spent last season with Bologna for whom he score four goals in 30 Serie A appearances.
For Milan, where he is contracted for another two seasons, he has made 111 league appearances, scoring six times.

We’ve got to be favourites here. We literally named a shopping centre after him.

When we were placing Accrington and Forrest Green 18 months ago. Who could have imagined we’d be giving a lukewarm reception to the idea of signing a Belgian international for over £10m from AC Milan for whom he’s played 111 games. It would be a big yes from me but have to wonder where he’d fit in with all the competition given Wes, Omari and now Delap can all play down the right.

Can't see why we would need him. Use the money on more pressing areas.

People saying we don’t need him weren’t saying that about Philogene? This is the alternative to that signing I would assume but with more experience of playing at top level with huge club. Delap will be getting played through the middle.

I don't know a single thing about him but I would rather see us strengthening the defence more and another CM.

Nice to be linked with top players in contrast to Norwich, love going into Norwich these days, whilst I talk about our signings and our opening games and ask them about their signings and opening games, lttle bit quiet on that front but they had lots to say about their 3-0 win over Northampton LOL! I know nothing about this player, however I hadn't heard of Omarie Hutchinson a year ago, none of us had I suspect, a player with no senior sats to look at. So we will just have to trust KM and MA.

Some fans make me laugh. Going on about we need other positions. Yes, of course we do. Doesn't mean we don't go and get anyone for this position. Fact is, with Jackson gone, we only really have Burns to play there. Yes,Omari can, but pretty sure mckenna, will see him more in the number 10 role. Vic. Hes a,winger. Not his main job to score goals. 4 i n 30 isn't that bad. And one of our best ever wingers Clive Woods, didn't score loads of goals. Set up a lot tho.

I would love us to go for Jack Clarke. Every time I watched him last year he was standout.

Would be an interesting signing. I thought Omari was in his best cutting inside while playing on the right, so hopefully will see more of that this season. I know we love to play with a number 10, but am cautious that our midfield with Luongo and Morsy would be overrun. Can see a tweak so we have a slightly different central midfield layout for the Premiership.

Let's be serious here. If his goal scoring record was 1 in 4 we simple wouldn't be able to afford him. What we must do is trust in McKenna's judgement and the ability of him and his staff to improve every player we sign. Maybe here he will find the net more often.

Cannot truly imagine we’d be seeking out anyone who didn’t fit into a balanced plan for the future — just not KM’s way ! COYB
