Baggott to Remain Sidelined For More Than a Month
Tuesday, 17th Sep 2024 18:42

On-loan Blues centre-half Elkan Baggott is facing at least another month on the sidelines with the ankle injury he suffered last month.

Baggott, 21, has made only three appearances for the Seasiders since joining the League One side in pre-season and has missed the last four matches due to the knock.

New manager Steve Bruce, who took charge at Bloomfield Road last week, says the Indonesia international remains some way off a return to action.

“He’s still in a boot at the moment,” Bruce told the Blackpool Gazette.

“He’ll be in it for another week and then there’s his rehabilitation, so I don’t think we’ll see him for the next month or so. It’s frustrating and disappointing for the player himself.”

Speaking shortly after Baggott suffered the injury, his former Town teammate Richard Keogh, a Blackpool first-team coach and interim-manager prior to Bruce taking over following Neil Critchley's sacking, described it as “a proper whack”.

This was the risk/reward of sending him on loan to the cloggers.

There's no safe place to go.

The level will drag him down.

But I suppose it's fair enough, we have so much cover in his position now that he probably won't ever play in the Premier League.

Maybe a victim of us going up two divisions in two seasons, he couldn't progress quickly enough.

It is better to be playing at admittedly a lower level than not playing at all.
Best wishes Elkan for swift recovery.
